Can somebody discribe mission files?

Recommended Posts

How do mission files work? Every time we reset the server and select a new mission file, it seems to be a different one. Barbed wire disappears, cars disappear. How do we select the same mission file after a reset. I can't seem to find info on this anywhere.

If you are doing a command line reset then yes the map will start over as a new mission, you need to actually stop and restart Dayz server side and vehicles/tents etc will re-populate from last hive save.

If you are a hosted service, login to your host providers control panel and stop/start your server.

If you are hosting it yourself, restart it, the Command line "Restart" will always reset to a fresh map until a proper reset.

There are times when you may want to temporarily run a clean map and a CLI restart is handy but I find those very limited.

We also found that any vehicles you get this way tend to despawn after a few moments of a proper stop/start and a hive sync so you can't get more vehicles this way :)

(For the record we discovered this when Host Altitude lost Control panel due to a 3rd party Data Centre issue and we had to do a CLI reset to fix some MAJOR lag/performance issues then ran for 24 hours before we could do a proper stop start during which time we got a off road pickup, which subsequently vanished)
