zancie 26 Posted August 8, 2012 (edited) I heard it was 30 USD.But I could be wrong, if it's like fifty, I will have a heart attack and be brought back to life due to shear happiness.I want it go standalone soon so I can stop worrying about buying it... GeordieMarv 293 Posted August 8, 2012 He said this last month. It could change, but it won't be like 59.99$also you can't expect it to come out till septemberI think a September release, will be very very unlikely. Maybe by the end of the year if we are lucky. But the end of September is only 7 weeks away.
keosan24 55 Posted August 8, 2012 You guys cant really believe that rocket will have a stand alone version of DayZ by September. He is not even close to being done with this mod for arma 2.
SystemiK 366 Posted August 8, 2012 A lot of people seem to confuse standalone with a finished game. DayZ is extremely likely to be released this fall as a standalone alpha or beta version (not a finished product). This is why the pricing will be low, similar to Minecraft's pricing model, people who paid up front to play the beta recieved a discounted price, and their money went toward further development of the game. SO many people here on the forums seem to think they will be buying a finished product in September. Very unlikely. You are going to pay to play the standalone alpha/beta or you can continue to play the mod for free (yes they are going to support the mod for the time being).Bohemia is going to be attending GamesCon next week, I'd be very surprised if they don't have a helluva lot to say about the new project at that time. Dingus (DayZ) 429 Posted August 8, 2012 He is not even close to being done with this mod for arma 2.I would imagine because he's been working on the standalone. You'd have to ask him though.
sostronk 334 Posted August 8, 2012 A little too cheap IMO. That might sound strange to some people, but I find with games the more I spend the more I get in terms of development. 15 Euros really isn't much incentive for developers to continue developing and adding content after release. Psyl3nt 125 Posted August 8, 2012 The price point looks good, often I see games for $100 or more and think... really ?For me the $50 AUD mark is about my limit, I just don't see how a video game could be "worth" more than that, and I rate DayZ to be worth more than most :)I understand that there is a hell of a lot of work going into it, but when you multiply the 30 or 50 by 1 million, it's still going to make a fair amount of cash. Hetstaine 10852 Posted August 8, 2012 I am already over the people crying that they paid 30 smackers for the arma pack to play the alpha mod and now will have to pay some more for the alpha stand alone. Its like they expect it to be free in alpha standalone because they already paid for the alpha mod..something is really wrong with these people and the way they want everything handed to them for sfa. You know what the best way to really whine is.? .with your wallet and not your mouth. Stand by your supposed morals instead of whining like sheep...who end buying it anyway. What SystemiK mentions above as well..if people actually used their fucking brains and read and took it all in before posting then they may have an actual idea of what they are talking about. So much bleating here sometimes its like a fucking goat farm. btw none of the above is about anyone in this thread above..just in general over the forums. opczar 0 Posted August 8, 2012 It's not coming out in September. See rocket's reddit post:[–]rocket2guns Rocket 18 points 8 hours ago (18|0) September I would say no, mainly because I have to now balance in things like interviews and gaming conventions. They sound awesome, but they take heaps of time. This has made me the bottleneck currently. October is my personal hope, bit its just that... a hope. Hope doesn't actually deliver games. But something would be extremely wrong if we didn't have something by November. It is early on in planning though, I shouldn't commit to that until I am sure nobody is, for example, going to sue the project and delay it :) http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/xtinb/thats_right_this_is_actually_happening_dayz_will/c5pk7d3
Robert512 12 Posted August 8, 2012 This won't be a game that has to be developed from scratch, most of the parts that will make up te game are already in place, it will be a modified version of the Arma II engine (or perhaps even III) with most of the troublesome parts bolted down. No more scripting and most likely they will drop the ability to make mods for the game as well.
