swallacefnf 0 Posted August 7, 2012 Hello everyone, Just a quick question about the lag i encounter in day z. When i first join a game the game runs very smooth with little to no lag. Within 5-10 mins and when the fan picks up speed i encounter huge lag spikes. When the fan speeds up it lags but then about 10 seconds later the fan slows down and i regain my frames.. Im going to pick up a cooling pad (i have a laptop) with good specs, to see if that helps. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
sxcblood 36 Posted August 8, 2012 (edited) something is overheating, fans should automatically increase in speed if it reaches a certain temperature Edited August 8, 2012 by unknownuser
BlazeN'Chronic 51 Posted August 8, 2012 You have a power source issue my friend... your CPU/GPU is drawing too much power that when your fans kick in... it draws some of that much needed power away... if you are on a laptop... id suggest playing plugged in... which im sure you already do... or upgrading to a new high performance lithium battery that will give you more total draw.. lye_ex@web.de 1 Posted August 8, 2012 If he is on a laptop, his system should be optimized so far to have a stable energy flow while plugged in, and dont forget to set your energy options to full power. But still could be the GPU/CPU just overheating which will lead to some lagg, until the fan (which you can hear in those seconds) cools down the system to a "normal" temperature. swallacefnf 0 Posted August 9, 2012 thanks guysis there anything else i could do to keep my laptop cool with a cooling pad??
jivix 2 Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) I think what is going on is that your laptops' temperatures are going too high, thus forcing your laptop to step the gpu and cpu down in order to prevent overheating. A cooling pad should help quite a bit. If you are comfortable with it, you should probably dust out your laptop as well (there are tons of guides for cleaning your laptop online).
