Got hit by zed? Well, you'll soon be become one...

Alright, most players after about a week of playing knows that zombies are actually cute and funny and dont really pose a serious treat so my suggestion is to make them deadly again, so how about if player gets bitten he would have XX hours to get **insert needed item here** to prevent the rapid virus spreading inside the players body.

Zed's cannot be cured but the virus can be stopped before it reaches critical levels in humans...

Thoughts on this?

Sounds like a good idea but it has to be a low percentage like .05 % of hits....and antibotics would be needed

Agreed. Could turn out too difficult to new players so perhaps some locations would be ''insta death'' without some suits and stuff.

Was suggested before always overlooked a bit I like the idea.

Also I think it could add some of the most hilarious situations

(e.g. group of survivors secureing a building Bob secures to the rear ,Tom turns his back of him,Bob turns into Z. and eats him :D).

It doesn't really add anything. Sure it "sounds fun", but think about the mechanic at its core.

[1] Rare occurrence on zombie hit

[2] Very debilitating if it happens

[3] Must consume an uncommon item to cure it

You know what that sounds like to me? A broken leg paired with morphine. Why duplicate this same mechanic and artificially copy/paste another 'morphine' type item someone must also collect and jam into their inventory from, what I'm guessing, would be the same place -- a hospital? Adding this copy/pasted mechanic just for 'flavor' is just needlessly duplicating an existing mechanic. If you prefer the aesthetics of it being an 'infected bite' icon vs. a 'broken bone' icon, i guess so, but I'm not a fan of doing ctrl+c/ctrl+v to an existing mechanic just to add another item to the list of "must grab at least one of these to keep at all time" items.

You are a survivor that has arrived in chernogorsk, AFTER the aftermath. There is already some system in the game that when you are hit by a zombie WHILE bleeding you have a small chance to get an infection, and to cure it you need antibiotics.

On the other hand, In still feel that to keep the players busy this could work if done right

I actually think this is a more fun alternative to the broken leg, if they are similar game mechanics. Breaking your leg just encourages suicide unless the "cure" for it becomes more easily attainable (like wood + bandage would increase mobility). Becoming infected would force you to move fast to a major city to find antibiotics in time to save yourself. A player-turned-zombie should also be harder to kill than normal zombies so that eventual teammates always would be scared of someone in the team being infected without telling anyone, or running out of time while looking for antibiotics.
