Unable to join DayZ severs.

So when I try to join a server it finishes receiving files and then it sends me back to the server browser. But when I'm at the server browser it says, "Waiting for character to create.", In the back round of the menu.

Is there a way to fix this/ Can I do something so that I will be able to join.

Are you guys new to DayZ, I am and I think it has something to do with the installation or not being properly updated but I'm not real sure.
