Limit where players can set up barbed wire fences and tank traps, and an idea for church bells.

Recommended Posts

Control where the player is limited to set up tank traps, barbed wire, and whatever else there is that is needed to be set up with a toolbox.

I'm sure people are tired of walking some place and finding that the entrance or stairway has been blocked by a tank trap or barbed wire that you cannot seem to get around. I would say to remove it completely, but these have their uses, and if they were to be controlled as tents were (before they were free to be put up anywhere), such as only in open areas (for things like camp perimeters), then it would be fine. It should be noted that tents should not factor in as objects when setting up barbed wire around them, which seems to be a popular thing among clans to do when setting up camps.

Church bells should attract zombies within the church limits, which could lead to lots of scenarios for the player.

Churches currently feel too safe. They often have good loot, are large and open on the inside, and serves as an easy bottleneck for killing hoards of zombies when you want to. The only difference now is that when the church bell rings, it would attract zombies that you may not want to or cannot defend yourself from.

I would say with high reward comes high risk, but since this is DayZ, any reward should come with high risk. Just as long as it isn't too far fetched to accomplish or too unfair or ridiculous.

I have no problems getting around barbed wire, ever.

Usually you can use the V key to jump over the barbed wire, and when that doesn't work you can still take it down with one of the prevalent toolboxes.

Not to mention logging off, switching servers, then switching back.

They need to make barbed wire better, not worse.

Tank traps have no purpose, as they can always be jumped over diagonally

Sandbags can be jumped over easier than barbed wire.

Currently, you can't use them around your camps, as people will just log off, bypass them, then log in.

Churches don't have good loot, they have 5-6 loot spots for common loot.

I have yet to set foot in a church that had anything I could use in it, but that's because I go to supermarkets before anything else.

Besides, who is supposed to be ringing the church bell?

The zombified priest?

The church bell rings anyway.

Zombies are focused on sounds and sights, like smoke grenades, running, etc. That's fine and dandy, but I just never got why church bells that are occasionally ringing don't attract any zombies.

The zombies in this game are still living creatures and, as such, are capable of basic pattern recognition. If the bell rings every day, at the same times, with the same frequency, it becomes about as useful to the zombies as the ocean wind, which is also quite loud. After realizing that running to the church for the same noise repeatedly yields no hunting results, they would begin ignoring it. Since DayZ takes place presumably at least a few years after the infection began, they would have had plenty of time to adapt.

You know, that's very interesting. I'm glad you thought of that.
