Binoculars and rangefinder?

How do I have both?

Before I logged out, I found someone's camp and grabbed a rangefinder and night vision goggles.

The goggles disappeared when I reconnected, but now the rangefinder is in the upper right slot, and I have binoculars in the upper left slot? When I press B I get binoculars, but N does nothing.

What gives?

You dont have both.

It's one or the other. Bino or Rangefinders.

Rangefinder work just like Binos anyways except they give you a range indicator at the top middle of the screen. They still function like Binos...i.e. to spot and look at stuff

Disconnected with rangefinder in upper LEFT slot, NVG in upper RIGHT slot.

Reconnected to... binoculars in upper LEFT slot, rangefinder in upper RIGHT slot.

I thought maybe it was graphical, but I connected to a night time server and hit N... Nothing.

B always gets binoculars, day or night.

I think by default when you move rangefinder into your inventory from tent or body that they swap or remove the NVG. So if you happened to pick up the NVG first then went for the rangefinder, you most likely put the NVG back in the tent/body. Ive had this happen to me multiple times but have luckily caught it.

Now what I do is remove my Binos first, then pickup Rangefinder and NVG - works much better.

Edit - just read your reply about seeing both in inventory before logging out... sorry, no idea there. Must be some glitch >:(

I'm sure it's done this to me before too.

If anything it'll be desync/server lag or a glitch.

Best advice is to wait a few mins before you log out after you pick new stuff up.

If you had Binos and came across a rangefinder why wouldn't you switch? Seeing range, even when not a sniper, is a big benefit imo.

it has range indicator

it looks cooler

it is rare

it is a must-have if you play a designated spotter

there is no reason to keep binoculars if you can have a rangefinder instead

Your right they are the same, but the rangefinders have night vision in them, along with the range. It's the same thing with two bonus features is that not better?
