My CPU Specs and a question

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for CPU specs and Video settings from other users and I found a few... I feel like even when I max everything out and restart the game, it doesn't look like I've seen in some youtube videos. I feel like the youtube videos colors are much darker and richer. My monitor is kind of old, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Here is my spec and below is other questions I have, if anyone could answer them that'd be great! :D

Based on my PC build below, I think I should be able to run this game at a decent FPS with some nice graphics, hell, I run everything else in Ultra or Highest settings.

Monitor: Samsung 225bw (22.5" widescreen) - Old but still kicking! (I plan to buy a new monitor soon)

Resolution: 1680x1050

CPU: AMD 8150 - 8 Core Processor 3.6 Ghz O/C to 3.8.

Memory: 16 gb

GPU: ATI Radeon 6950 - 2 gb 256bit (I'll be adding another one of these for X-Fire support soon)

Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair V Formula AM3 - Replubic of Gamers 990FX

- By putting all the video settings to their highest selection, am I maybe making my graphics look worse? I don't know exactly what AA and some other settings really do so I'm afraid they might conflict?

- Should I go into ARMAII OA and change the settings there to high first or by doing the settings within' DayZ is sufficient?

- Does anyone else have a similar setup, if so, what are your settings at?

Maybe you guys can add a screen shot of what yours looks like if it's not too much trouble. I think this is all I have for now, thanks for looking!

Your rig is better than mine and I run the game maxed out (except AA) and it runs great. I have a:

Intel core i5-750 (overclocked to 4ghz)

Nvidia GTX-560Ti

8 gigs ram

try lowering AA and disabling post processing

I'm trying to accomplish the highest graphical settings. So you have your settings with everything at very high, but you don't have the AA because it slows your PC down or because it makes your graphics look worse?

Two things. Put your 3d resolution up. It is the setting that makes the game look the best. Also if you turn on fxaa in your nvidia control panel you only need to set you AA to normal or high.

After putting my 3d resolution up, I should leave my display resolution at it's native, right?

Also, I don't have an NVIDIA card. Maybe I have the FXAA setting in my Catalyst AI (ATI's control panel)

Sorry for some reason i thought you had a nvidia card. Ya but still AA should be around high. Also yes, leave your monitor the same resolution. Putting the 3D up in game makes the image crisper. I have mine at 114%. If you look at your compass, you can easily see the difference it makes. To test it, look at your compass, and go to 80%, then 100%, then above 100%

You know that the colour leeches out when you have reduced blood right? if you're not at 12,000 blood the colours will be less vivid, to the point of greyscale at very low blood.

Hi, I've been looking for a topic like this for a while. My computer spec. are these:

AMD fx-8120 3.1 Ghz - Turbo 3.4 Ghz

ATI Radeon HD5770 1gb gddr5

RAM 4096mb (1600mhz)

I don't know why but I can only play dayz on very low details because of fps.

I have even added some startups parameters like -maxmem and -cpucount but they seems to be useless.

Any suggestions?

Remove max mem. It limits the memory arma will use. Also, run as administrator. After that, go into task manager, then processes, and set its priority to high. You can check out my graphics thread too, if you want.

Just to let everyone know, I tried going Very High/High in everything. I messed around with the HDR setting, but I have no idea what that does. I left it on high. Long story short, my graphics looked better and I'm at a steady 40 FPS.. in my opinion is VERY playable.

Anyone know what HDR is?

HDR- is a form of lightning (to put it simply). If you set it on ultra, you'll see better at nighttime

I have my settings like this:

draw distance- 3600

Textures - Ultra high Terain-high postprocess-none

Graphical memory - default object-high

aniso - none shadows-high

AA - none (I got FXAA via cfg) HDR-ultra vsync-off

both resolutions 1920x1080

I wery rearely go under 60 fps, but my PC is a little better then yours (2500k @ 4,2GHz, AMD 7950 @ 1GHz core /1,4 GHz

Nice. I have my draw distance at 16000, or is that view distance? lol whatever the first option is before you go into advanced... which is right above the brightness and gamma.
