BlackSkullpie 0 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) *Which version of the game did you purchase? STEAM or RETAIL or MIXED:Steam!*Are you running an Arma 2 OA beta patch? If so what version?:No!*Which method are you using to launch the game? I.E Sixupdater/steam/batch file:Six Updater!*What is the Error/Problem you're having? Please provide screenshots if possible:I have been playing DayZ for a time now and recently bought it for my brother to play on his own computer. While it was downloading on his computer he logged into his steam account on my computer and played DayZ on my computer. For some reason it logged into my DayZ account although he had Arma2 on his own Steam Account. He stopped playing and then just waited for his own download to finish. When the download did finish he logged into his own steam account on his own computer that had never played DayZ before and somehow logged into my DayZ account. And when I try to log into DayZ on my computer it also logs into my DayZ account. We tried everything to get him to go onto his own account and separate characters: deleting my characters, reinstalling Arma and the SixUpdater but none of it works to get us on our own characters. Now, the problem is, when we try to log into the same server, the server lets the person who joined first on, but then the computer that joined second gets an error while trying to connect to the lobby screen that says "You Have Been Kicked From The Game" and under it says the "Waiting For Host" loading screen. I would take a screenshot but printscreen isn't letting me.Sudgestions on how to separate our accounts would be helpful, thanks.*Your PC specs:*Your Operating System:Windows 7*Have you looked at these threads?:Says Link Invalidhttp://dayzmod.com/f...d.php?tid=18588 Edited August 7, 2012 by BlackSkullpie
Menny 116 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) This is because your DayZ character is linked to your Steam serial key. I believe you can reset this by deleting the registry entry. So delete the registry entry on your brother's PC. (you'll have to do some googling yourself as I don't know exactly how to do this)To play on the same server at the same time, you will need to tell the game to use a different port. Otherwise both clients will just try to connect through the default port, which obviously will not work. The parameter you want is -port='port' where 'port' is the port number you would like to use. Use something like -port=5000 on either your brother's game or yours. Edited August 7, 2012 by Menny
Disgraced 1123 Posted August 7, 2012 An easy quick fix is for him to log out of steam on his computer, create a new windows user and then log into that new user. Log I to his steam account and he should get his own character. Otherwise, start googling to find the serial number/cd key in the registry. Reinstalling is a waste of time 99% of the time.
