Can zombie spawn points be shut down by player proximity?

So I was making a fuel run on my motorcycle last night and I noticed something funky. I drove up to a fuel tank faster than the nearby zombies could spawn, and once I was close enough to a specific point the zombies were just stuck in one place, cycling through different models (farmer, mechanic, suit, hoppers, etc.) It looked like I had managed to shut down this particular zombie spawn by getting very close to it very quickly.

Has anyone else noticed this? Do you think with enough players rushing enough spawn points, a small area could be secured, at least temporarily?

I've noticed the same thing. Seems they run on the same spawn feature as the items do.

yeah,

i think its becasue there is a certain proximity to you that they cant spawn

the bike however (or any car) doesnt spawn zeds till you get off it, thus you are already so close and they trip out

thats how you know when drivng, if you see already spawned zeds, that there is a player around

The zombies first spawn in the center of whatever structure is spawning them. Then they randomly teleport out some little distance away to start wandering in the fields. If you're there at the structure, you just see them pop up one after the other and might not see them reappear again out in the field.

I saw this too. Three or more zombies at the same place, don't moving and don't even attacking me. Strange, but really nice, .. because the loot was there! (:

If I understand you correctly, when I see the zombie models cycling rapidly in one spot, they are actually teleporting one after another into the surrounding area?
