Trouble related to steam OA and non steam ARMA free

A friend of mine recently bought ARMA2 to get in on day z with us, but because he's a moron he only bought OA and atm isn't able to buy ARMA2 seperately.

I have given him the download link for ARMA2 free, but the problem is this.

His Operation Arrowhead version is on steam, how will we need to go about installing the free version to have it run correctly?

Will he need to put it in the steam folder?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I used Arma 2 Free for a couple months, and it does suck, but it does work.

Why don't you just go on Steam and download the ArmA 2 "Demo" which is ArmA 2 Free. Then you have both on Steam.
