Can players hear you if they are NOT in Direct communication?

Recommended Posts

was just playing on a server with 1 other person. i was looting a building in Cherno and heard him next door. i called out a couple of times and he did not respond. i sat still so he wouldn't hear me moving. he then entered the building i was in. i was upstairs and heard him drink a soda and eat some food. i called out two more times and told him if he came upstairs i would kill him. he didn't respond and came up the steps. i dropped him. he had a pistol and was examining loot. i have to think he did not hear me...

sorry Saladin:Cat... i had no intentions of killing you. that was my 2nd PK with this character (currently Day 11).

Yes he can hear you as long as he was in the radius of the direct communication.

Happens to me so frequently I wonder if my mic isn't working. People will run into your building as you're telling them that you're going to kill them, and they don't even enter carefully - they just immediately run in looking for loot without their weapon even being drawn. I almost feel bad killing them, but if they run into me I'm not taking the chance.

Are these people playing with their speakers off or something? Or are there THAT many non-english speaking people playing the game?

Direct Communication is a foreign thing to most players. They're used to hearing some jackass on voice who is nowhere near them.

That or they don't care that you're talking to them or they think you're a threat.

Hehe, in Elektro, I had been moving up the tower in a fire station taking a rest at the floor beneath the top one, and then I suddenly heard someone began eating canned food and gulping cola. I tried to communicate but it ended up him peeking down the stairs and when we pointed our guns on each other, he fired once and I emptied my gun on him. I survived to my surprise and killed some other guy that came up the stairs moments later, unfortunately I was killed by a third guy standing outside someehere as I tried to exit the fire station. Oh, yes, about 20 zombies rushed up the stairs in order after the initial gunfire was exchanged.

I've always found that Direct Chat is incredibly quiet, even standing next to the player who is talking, it seems just so damn quiet.

When I talk to somebody in-game I just turn up my sound for the time being.
