The makarov is the worst possible starting weapon you can get. I am not saying a 1911 or a .44, but rather a Glock 17 or Beretta 9mm as starters.

I think the makarov is just fine as a starter. It gives me a reason to do a quick run on one of the coastal towns for a better weapon, before heading north

I disagree with TS. Makarov is ok.

Last time i died it took me 40 minutes to get fully equipped (exept NVG's).
