How do I make a fire?

I have matches and woodpile. How can I make a fire?

Right click the woodpile and click 'Make Fireplace'. You need to have both the matches and the wood in your direct inventory.

That's funny, because I had both items and I clicked "Make Fireplace". No fire was made - just wood logs were placed on the ground.

After you've placed the wood on the ground, just middle mouse (alternatively, press Enter/Return) on the pile of wood.

I tried two times and it only said "You have created a fireplace" and that was it - no fire, no nothing, just lost my woodpile

Look at the woodpile that you have placed on the ground, then MMB on 'Light Fire'.

After you've lit it, it will eventually go out, unless you feed it wood. Do this by using MMB/Enter on it, just as if you were looting a body, and drop more wood into the woodpile's inventory.
