Hello all,

Just got the game up and running about 30 minutes ago. Wanted to enter the game and just get my bearings, see if my computer can handle it and so on.

But every server i join i'm forced to pick a side, i cannot go independent just to get the feel of the game. the option is greyed out.

I don't want to join a group yet but just walk around the map exploring for a while to see how everything works.

Is there anyway to do this? form the youtube movies i got the impression u could join a general server and walk around alone if u want.

Any help is appreciated.

Groups in DayZ really don't matter. Just because you're in BluFor doesn't mean you're all connected in a chat channel or something. Did I understand that correctly?

It forces you into a group because of the game engine being used...just think of it as an open world free for all with zombies :)
