Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted August 6, 2012 You may have noticed, from a few posts today, that I'm parsing my log files for cheats. I've now compiled a list of people using cheats. Is it as simple as adding them to the bans.txt file? Or is there a special process?
Barronism 88 Posted August 6, 2012 If you have proof for each ban, I ask that you share them with the community so other admins can view your proof and decide if they want to ban them also.
Gogster (DayZ) 626 Posted August 6, 2012 I, personally, have not problem with that. I'm just cautious about posting names, IP's & GUID's in a public forum.I'm a veteran of the PunksBusted system and we used to have a rule that player information for bans should only be available to admins.Do you have any information about adding them to the bans.txt file? I don't want to go through this process for them to be overwritten by BattlEye on the next update.
DarkRaven123 602 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) Add the players GUID to the ban.txt.The problem with that though is some hacks have spoofing capabilities.Edit - I wouldn't think that a Battleye update would overwrite the text file. That would be incredibly redundant. Torndeco (DayZ) 46 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) If the hacker is lazy u can catch them via battleyeLook inside \cfgdayz\BattlEye\ Check your scripts.txt isnt empty If its is look @ http://dayzmod.com/f...ration/theres a copy of scripts.txt thereThen with some luck u will start to notice entries in \cfgdayz\BattlEye\scripts.logIts important u DON'T BAN everyone mentioned there. It just flags some entries and most of the time they are harmlessTry out http://dayzmod.com/f...r-for-admins/ to search the log file for u + it will highlight the line numbernotepad++ is a nice file / source editorNext u want to search + post a thread if u arent sure if it is a hack or normal game script, last thing u want todo is ban someone by mistake.
