bad serial number given during setup

Recommended Posts

Steam I presume?

First, Do the verify game cache option in Steam for both games.

Then, start each game from the steam library and get to the main menu.

Then try reinstalling Battle Eye.

Then, profit.

( Verify game cache is done within the properties menu when you right click the games in your library)

Make sure you do them both.

You may have to go to the battle eye site and redownload.

Also when it said the file had to be redownloaded it did that right that moment.

It should also update it when you join a game anyway.. but get the most recent you can.

Huh?

Ok skip the Battle Eye part. Just make sure you verified the 2 games..

Arma 2

Arma 2 OA.

Then ran both of them and got to the menu. Then exited them.

Then go try the game. (DayZ)

With Steam version you may need to run Steam as Administrator one time, to properly install your serial keys for ARMA2 and OA.

Are you using the Steam version of Combined Operations with Win7 or Vista?

If so, first exit Steam. Now run Right-Click Steam and "Run as Administrator". Launch ARMA 2 once, then exit ARMA 2. Launch Operation Arrowhead once, then exit OA. That should complete first-time setup correctly for each and activate your serial keys. Now exit Steam, and reload Steam normally.

If you're having problems getting the Beta to load, the easiest thing to do is use DayZ Commander. Go into the DayZCommander options and check the boxes for "Use Steam" and "Replace Steam exe with Beta exe". That should take care of it.

More help with installing HERE at the DayZWiki and in all good Google searches.

Follow ODoyleRulez suggestion - you probably don't need to update Battleye, and it's probably not related to the problem you're having. Click this spoiler button to see how if you want to do it later:

For Battleye: http://www.battleye.com/download.html

v1.62

(Put these files into a folder called "BattlEye" in the "Expansion" folder of your game install directory)

That's probably "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\Battleye\"

Just do it once for each game.. Then go run each game til you get to the menu.

There is a lot more info in this thread for it. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/52459-dayz-arma-2-oa-bad-serial-number-given-in-setup/

There are multiple solutions but this way seems to be the main fix. Hope you can get it fixed :)
