ComradeTaco 0 Posted August 6, 2012 I've really been struggling in my first 13 game hours.Life 1: Learning controls, attracted mob of 10-15 zombies, duration .10 minutesLife 2: Still getting controls, zombie stumbles upon me while in bathroom, duration.35 minutes Life 3: Finally get it, I begin traveling north, extensively search countryside, but I cannot find any food, die Though I did find a bicycle and it was quite fun to get some speed after crawling for in game days.4 hours Life 4: Scavenge, get Lee Enfield, 8 clips everything is going quite lovely. Health is low, I alt-tab to check something on chrome, click on a tab, click is registered in game as a rifle shot, zombie hits me, I'm knocked out and bleeding. dead.6 hoursLife 5: Run 5 km to electro on 8 person server. Finally getting serious. Find marakov, tons of ammo, med equipment. Shot in head as I exit school.1 hour 30 minutesLife 6: Go to electro in another small server. Enter fire station, find awesome auto-shotty. Just as I pick it up, guy comes in front so I run up stairs bleeding. I begin to bandage myself, but just before I finish he shoots me in the face, teabagging my dead body. My tears presumably served as lubrication. 1 hour Life 7: Go to electro school again. Get supplies. Lee Enfield. Zombie killing rampage. Fall off third floor to second because bullets fail to clip thin air. Insta-death.30 minutes.Life 8:Finally in cherno. Sneak around, get crossbow, tons of supplies, in center of town. However, as I'm crawling up the stairs, both of my legs break. I blackout. Than I wake up, exit the building with my broken body towards the hospital, a zombie hits me, blackout, bleeding, dead.1 hour 30 minutes My impression: . A small number of very well armed players could play their own little match of COD against an unwitting opponent. Furthermore, the areas they dominated promised the best bounty with the fewest zombies. When I wandered the countryside. 30-40 zombies would often be seen scouring a village with as many loot spawns as a typical lootable apartment unit in cherno. Thus, when they played their version of 'The Most Dangerous Game' they did so with impunity. The glitches work to make what could be a enjoyable but difficult game exceedingly frustrating and makes one question if such a large investment of time is really worth it. Suggestion: Breaking ones legs shouldn't be possible through environmental damage OR you should never black out with health above 9000.
patriots20068@yahoo.com 100 Posted August 6, 2012 Yeah. This game is frustrating man. I lost 13 hours of gameplay to a single sniper bullet. Lost everything.

Figuring out what you can do and where, how close to get to zombies and so on and so forth.Lives 5-8.... if you want to actually play the game, and not be COD-fodder, then you DON'T GO INTO CHERNO OR ELEKTRO. In fact, you get off the coast as soon as possible. From a fresh spawn, you should be able to run a very long way North before you die of hunger/thirst. Next time you spawn, find your bearings, then run North, aim for one of the more quiet towns with a supermarket, you will get tonnes of food and water, and probably a side arm also. From there, hit deerstands to get a nice primary.
Leitbild 8 Posted August 6, 2012 thats the game. The fun is the scavenging and the surviving. If you want to stay alive for long, go to the north and hide way up north west. There isnt any interressting loot spawn point (past the NWAF) so you basicly can live there forever. But thats no fun at all. The joy and excitement is made from the surviving of other players close to you.
s0ulassassin 11 Posted August 6, 2012 Idk you seem to be alt tabing in a few of your deaths.. my guess would be to not alt tab while still in game. Also if you are new.. don't go into Cherno or Elektro.. there are way better spots to get gear and get off the coast. Look for deer stands for instance or if you got balls go to Balota. Don't let the deaths get you down.. You are suppose to die and welcome to DayZ
LIMITID 28 Posted August 6, 2012 "Yeah. This game is frustrating man. I lost 13 hours of gameplay to a single sniper bullet. Lost everything."Thats the fun of the game imo. No matter how long you played or how well geared you are death can come at any time anywhere. At OP, keep persevering. If you feel you can't handle the big cities then avoid them and head to a barn or dearstand for guns and maybe some supplies.Look up one of the many loot maps available on the net. If you want city loot, and dont want much risk (in comparison to Cherno and Electro) head to the north east of the map to thethird city Berzino. There is also a mil camp there with some decent loot. cindyanne1 41 Posted August 6, 2012 I hear you. I don't simply want to survive in this game... for me it's the exploration that is fun. I was like that with WoW and with Diablo too... well, with any open-world game, really. I like going places I've never been and seeing what's there. I won't rest until I've seen all of Cherno and especially the inside of the hospital at least once. Then I'll target another area and keep trying to explore all of it. Bit by painstaking bit. :) I get really irritated at other players killing me when all I want to do is explore the map. But... you know... they don't know that's what my goal is and they probably don't care either. :\

Oh man this made me miss the good old days of wow, lazing around on your (flying) mount and exploring the world, good times ^^
Siberian (DayZ) 527 Posted August 6, 2012 when im a fresh spawn i head right for Elec. or Cherno (depending on were i spawn)..you have nothing to loss at this point, but everything to gain.either i get all my basics and get out alive to head inland or i dont, and rinse and repeat..i feel much better about going in the 2 main cities as a fresh spawn, then once i have my gear...
