Gruntypants 2 Posted August 5, 2012 I was wondering if it was worth it to buy this game in the current state. I heard that DayZ was coming out as a standalone game in a couple of months and if I bought Arma for DayZ would I have to pay for DayZ when it comes out as a standalone game? Beloozero 118 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) Purchasing it is entirely your decision. Nobody here is saying "OMGZ BUY THIS GAM OR U IS N00BZ!" or "GTFO THIS GAME IS BADD!". We're not forcing it on you. But be warned, DayZ is in it's Alpha stage and bugs are going to come up, but that's nothing a little community troubleshooting can't help! :D Edited August 5, 2012 by Beloozero

Right now you are paying for Arma II, not Dayz. Dayz is a free mod. Once the standalone game comes out you will need to purchase that game. Granted, I bought Arma II for the purpose of playing this mod and I enjoy it.
headbudgie 4 Posted August 5, 2012 Well... if you desperately wanna play it now then sure, and the mil sim that sim that ArmA actually is pretty good. If you want to play DayZ now and like the thought of a Tactical Shooter, buy ArmA and mod it up.If however you're not that desperate, don't buy it now. Especially if you don't fancy ArmA 2. Fitzkrieg 129 Posted August 5, 2012 Eh, if you're dieing to play it then go for it, it's worth the buy. But if you want refined, less hacked, (hopefully less DM), then wait awhile.
daspope 146 Posted August 6, 2012 (edited) knowing what I know now after having played the game, I probably would not buy the game until it is standalone, the graphical errors and hackers really annoy the crap out of me, but on the other hand I do enjoy the game. After buying Arma 2, and now hearing the game may go standalone in a month, if the standalone version costs more than $20 I probably wont buy it, not until all the hacking vulnerabilities are fixed at least. because I dont see any sense in paying over $50 for a game that is in alpha that I will likely have to re-buy upon launch. CarlosEspada 19 Posted August 6, 2012 BUY THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!
toastymcbutterbuns 34 Posted August 6, 2012 Get arma 2 free first and see if the mechanic are good enough. Then, but Arma 2 co if you want to play dayz. Also, try to play at a friends house. The game is still in alpha, so it has some problems, but it will get a lot better. Even if you don't like dayz, at lease you can play arma 2/ operation arrowhead. Hanni 0 Posted August 6, 2012 Don't buy the game. Its fun for sure (at first) but it is full of hackers. You'll just get annoyed and seriously - it really is just a waste of time and money until they release a standalone. But hey, don't take my advice, go waste your money and find out for yourself.
