LU291 Admin abuse with video

Recommended Posts

This incident occurred at around 2300 GMT on LU291.

So my group were on this server a long time today hearing a helicopter flying overhead. We raided the airfield, to have the heli fly overhead again. I took a compass bearing of its flightpath and we spread out and headed north in search of their camp. This is what happened -

Now, I'm pretty upset about this. We took them by fair means only for them to cheat us out of a working Ural, pick-up truck and a working chopper.

If they choose to run their server in this fashion then I do not believe that they should be able to own a server. As we speak this server is still down and has been so for nearly an hour.

This is their clan's website - http://bob-arma2.fr/

i apologise that some parts of the video are dark, but I had to turn off my NVG's for using the AS50.

Did you record anything past this? Not sure if the evidence would be conclusive enough... It doesn't show that it indeed was shutdown, and not just you lagging out. I do hope it's enough though.. I've been through my share of admin abuse and I know the frustration that comes with it. I don't have a problem with being beat fairly, but when stuff like this happens when it's totally unfair... It deserves some punishment.

Bumping. I've been screwed out of a chopper, UAZ, Old Hatchback and helicopter wreckage by admin abuse(Or reallllly convientently timed and unannounced server restarts). And that's why I'm finally deciding to build my own dedicated server. Devs please take these guys down. It may not be conclusive evidence, but come on, you know they did it.

The server completely shut down and hasn't been online since. You can find their server on GameTracker. You can check if you want to.

On their forums we've also notified them about our complaint of admin abuse (linked to this topic) and up till now, no one of their clan has responded.

I placed a topic on their server, asking what this was all about and pointing them out that we made this complaint on the forums. This is the literal reply of one of their server admins (not the one we shot):

RE : À propos de ce qui s'est passé tout à l'heure...

Hello Fengshen,

Our DayZ server is turned off every night when our last team members leave the game. I don't know that it is forbidden by DayZ rules.

Our reason is that we are people who sleep during the night and work during the day as well. We rent this DayZ server to play evey evening or during the day each week-end.

So as I told you, we did not stop the server because you shot our pliot donw, but because we use to to stop to play, AS EVERY NIGHT, between 00:30 an 01:30 (according the day). I understand your frustration, but other hand, what should we have done : go to sleep and let the server opened just for to let you steal our chopper without opponents?

If we should have turn the sever off only last night after you shot our pilot, you may tell that we don't play fair, but we do the same thing EACH EVENING at about the same time. Not beacause we are under attack, but because this is time to go to sleep. Our server lives like us, with the same timetable.

Sorry for that.

Regards,

=BoB=Boogie

Their server info on GameTracker confirms this behaviour.

I don't think I have to remind anyone that this is against the rules laid out by Rocket and his team.

The topic on their forums can be found here.

I call bullshit.. Anybody who has put the money into renting a server has done enough research to know you can't just shut your server down. Plus that just sounded like a terrible excuse.

Look at their server stats on GameTracker. It happened every single day since they got their server. I think they're used to it on their other servers as well, since they're an ArmA II clan.

As visible in this topic, we're working out a friendly solution to this incident. They have acknowledged they were wrong here and are willing to find a solution directly with us. There's no more need for a blacklisting of their server as far as we're concerned, since they are cooperative and were not consciously trying to cheat the rules. We've made them aware of the rules that are in place and they said they'll alter their behaviour to be according to the hosting rules.

RE : À propos de ce qui s'est passé tout à l'heure...

Hello guys,

I thank Fengh and Kodabar to make the effort to write in French on our forum. But you may write in English if you prefer. (Warnings about 'good French language' on this forum are writen for French people and not for foreign guys ^^) .

And thank you too to keep courteous in this tricky situation.

Concerning our 'problem', be sure that :

1 - The fact to switch our server off every evening is not the will to cheat, but only to have the same timetable IRL and in game. I think (and I hope) that you understood this by checking our server activity stats on GameTracker.

2 - This unexpected server stop has been harmful for you. That's true.

3 - =BoB= team is a more 5 years old team, and we are wel known as a no cheating team. If we wanted to cheat by turning our server off when our members are in trouble, we would not play by using our =BoB= tag with our knicknames. If you see '***s has been killed' message and the server stops some minutes later, you don't think 'cheat !'. But if you see '=BoB= ***s has been killed' and then the =BoB= server stops, you think 'cheat'.

4 - Our DayZ server has not been restarted since 'the Affair'. We have to discuss about it with our DayZ =BoB= mates concerning your complaint. Unfortunatley I was alone yesterday evening, and it was impossible to make a decision alone.

So, we keep in touch here, and as soon as we will decide something we wlll inform you.

Have a nice day.

posticon.gifPosté aujourd'hui à 16:57 quote.gif RE : À propos de ce qui s'est passé tout à l'heure... Hi kodabar (and others)

sorry for my late answer and my poor inglish!

Effectively we are not know like a team of "Band of Cheaters"

Effectively we "teamplayed" on Opération flashpoint, ArmA1 and 2, and soon ArmA3..

Effectively we shut down the server when the last BoB member quit the game.

Effectively we dont have to try to play on a public server like it was "private".

Effectively we dont have to do that because we dont respect the "rules" of a public "server" and we are sorry for that...

Why we do that?

i try to explain:

About the rules we can read that on Dayz site:

"Persistent Server - Fed up of spending so many hours working towards a goal or finding supplies and then the server crashes on you losing all your progress? Well with the DayZ server all stat's are saved to our external database so where ever you log off, whatever you have will be keep on you next time you come back in. This means you can spend however long you want doing what you want to do. As long as you don't die during the night!"

devellopers try to approach real conditions for more immersives sensations.

But they cant allow players who have spent hours to runnig in all the map factorys for repair vehicules, to quit the game with them.. It will be more realistic, but it's not possible..

So, a new community of DayZ players appear: they absolutely not respect the spririt of the game by staying very far of the center of the map, respawning as many times as they can on all the servers they can, with falses nicknames, only searching for stole the work of players trying to make teamplay and explore all the possibilities that DayZ gameplay can offer.

By shut down our server we want to try to protect us from that kind of players.

Effectively we cant do that if we pay for public server and not "private"..

So, you absolutely right kodabar, but anyway, when i see the "reports" on DayZ site and when i read the term of "blacklist", i am very happy to not be jude living in 1940..

Cheers

Having talked with the French group on their own forum, we are now happy that this incident is resolved and that all parties are satisfied with the outcome. It was an unfortunate situation where the server administrator shut down the server after he died as he had finished playing for the night. Had this occurred a couple of hours earlier, there would have been no problems.

Unlike any other group, the BoB clan shut down their server at night. Whilst this is against the rules and aggravated this situation, we are not seeking any sanction.

I can only offer our thanks to the members of BoB for their honourable and generous nature in trying to resolve this issue fairly.
