2 Questions from my fist day playing

Hello All,

First off...what an intense awesome gameplay experience, totally hooked.

I had two things happen and would like to know if I did something wrong or if they are glitches.

This is not a complaint in any way, just seeking advice so I know how to avoid it in the future.

I also understand this is a free alpha, so some strangeness is expected.

I also looked around the forums to see if I could find anything about this, no luck.

#1 - Found a hatchet and AKM. Running around with my hatchet, killed a few zombies. Found an AKM, put hatchet (in or out of toolbelt..don't remember, but whatever let me keep the hatchet and arm the AKM. Ran out of bullets but couldn't figure out how to disarm the AKM without losing it and go back to hacking with my hatchet. Is there a way to store the AKM and use the hatchet? Also, whatever I did, the AKM completely disappeared and I lost it. I know I didn't click delete or anything, not even sure if that is possible. Is there an easy way to quickly switch between rifle and melee?

#2 - Snuck up on a guy that appeared to be hiding. Maybe AFK, maybe disconnected. I've been killed a few times and that is the nature of the game so I figure I'd kill him and loot. I hacked him with my hatchet 15-20 times and nothing. I figured maybe disconnected or a glitch or something. I ended up walking away and about 2-3 minutes later he came up behind me and blew me away with a shotgun (or what appeared to be). I'm not complaining, I deserved to get killed, but was this a glitch?

#1 I believe you can not swap out without putting your gun in your backpack...

#2 Sometimes when a person is connecting in they will sit there for a while whilst there character is loading, pretty sure they are invisible at this point so people can not kill them. You may have been unlucky and hit him whilst this was happening. Or, he may have been hacking. But I am going more for "just connecting" symptom.

1) You needed to put the hatchet back into your toolbox prior to picking up the akm

2) If a person is currently having connection problems (the red chainlink), or if you are experiencing lag, then sometimes a person will appear as if they're walking into a wall or just standing there when really, it's just a delay between one or both of you and the server. (...is my educated guess.)

*As far as I've come to understand, killing a person who is just connecting to the server and are in "limbo" is when you start seeing "such and such was killed by whatshisname (friendly fire)". In other words, he should've died if he was just connecting.

So the fastest way to change out would be hit G for gear, open bag, pick AKM from list on left side, click arrow to put in bag, then equip hatchet?

If I see somebody just standing there, I'll just avoid.

I already had the AKM, do I need to drop it and pick up again every time I want to switch between rifle/hatchet?

yes but so u know asault rifles take up 10 slots so the default bag cant be used to store rifles

Just trying to wrap my head around the mechanics of this, guess I need to play more.

It just seems odd to me that if I am in the middle of a tense situation and run out of bullets, I have to drop my assault rifle to equip my hatchet.

I guess that can seen seen as realistic, just was hoping there was a way to not have to worry about losing it.

Definitely makes things more difficult, which isn't always a bad thing.
