Medics?

Recommended Posts

One of the things I enjoy most about Day Z are the player interactions. So I got to thinking about what we have right now, which is basically either "Shoot on sight" or "Try to group up." and maybe even "offer help to others" There are already grey areas as to who is truly a bandit, and who isn't, but what if you had to be a "medic" to use a blood pack on someone? I'm sure a type of class based gameplay might not be something to go after, but I just thought it would be interesting. If this were the case the people who would shoot on sight would probably see having a medic hostage to be of more value than the equipment on them.

And then of course there's the obligations one might feel for being a medic. The want to heal.

Just a thought and could result in more interesting, immersive, challenging and fun situations.

As to what you have to have to be a medic, well, I'm not sure.

Maybe you'd have to have a certain amount of humanity, hell, it'd almost be like a reward for staying alive long enough to get there, people are less likely to shoot you if you can heal them.

This could even balance gameplay in a way.

We can assume bandits will always get better gear faster because they shoot first without asking questions.

But in order to be a medic you would have to actively help neutrals. so each side of the coin would have their perks within the community. Of course some would cross the line willingly as they do now between neutrals and bandits.

having to make hard decisions is quite fun in video games. This would just add another element to the game, another obstacle to overcome while being somewhat understandable.
