MikeTupper 68 Posted August 5, 2012 There are too many people that "set up camp" (place tents filled with everything you'll ever need). When they die, they're like "well i'll just derp to camp and gear up again". It shouldn't be that way. When you die, you dead. You should start over, with just the band-aid. They should remove tents.
Lumberjack (DayZ) 60 Posted August 5, 2012 Tents are an important aspect, and what your saying is true but it's not unrealistic to high tail it back to your tents after death as its right they should still be there. But to make a camp and maintain it requires dedication and the risk of it being found and all you hard work taken in an instant. It's an important aspect of the game, I,ve died gone back to my camp only to find its been looted and my other camp deleted/gone.So no tents should never be removed. They should remove tents.Look at it this way if your part of a group normally you all contribute to these camps, so makes sense they don't magically go poof when you die? Also camps can be raided so there is always risk involved when you have a camp...I personally think its fine the way it works now!
Grodenn 53 Posted August 5, 2012 I agree but I think that removing that storage space all together is the wrong way to go. Because when you are alive you want to be able to store stuff that you have raided from towns etc, it also gives you some type of end game content (with building up a base). But yes I think it should get wiped in some way when you die I'm far from sure what the best way to do that is though (there is way to many ways to exploit the system if your own tent gets wiped at death). But yeah death is not nearly as painful if you know you have a tent with ton's of stuff that you can pick up again. I think that valuing your life in the game is something we need and is what makes this game interesting, if my life in the game is not worth jack shit then it's just another CoD DM game... Robolord 11 Posted August 5, 2012 At first, you'd say no. But if you actually think about it...removing storage will mean that you have to keep on looting, you have to go to lootable areas again and again and have the danger of players again. It'd most certainly be a game improving change.+
bazbake 456 Posted August 5, 2012 Tents need to be removed. They're basically this game's equivalent of an extra-life with unlimited uses. Dying's not a threat, and if you think someone will find your tent and take your stuff "increasing the danger," then you haven't been playing this game very long.To put it another way, starting inventory is 20 slots including coyote pack. A hospital box holds 10 bandages, 5 epi-pens, and 5 morphine auto injectors. If all dying means is that you now have to stop at the hospital to fill your pack with 20 medical items, then there's something wrong with the game mechanics.Tents should either disappear on death or be removed from the game. Right now metagame mechanics like this take away 80% of the danger and encourage hoarding and server hopping.
