Install using sixupdater and my current issues (connecting failure)

Recommended Posts

All, Let me start by saying i apologize for adding a new thread to the long list but i need a bit more explanation beyond what i have been reading.

I am using the six updater method. (different from steam?) This is my first attempt at PC gaming so i am getting lost in a lot of the different methods and how they may or may not relate to my method. I downloaded the free version of arma2, purchased OA from gamersgate, updated and downloaded sixupdater. I followed this video for reference

The first issue i had was sixupdater not recognizing the game. I had to change the destination path to the one it was looking for as it was not installed in the same breakdown. Next i had a Securom activation error not recognizing my key. After contacting gamersgate they resolved the issue and my key now works.

While waiting for the key to get sorted it seems the six updater start up process has recently changed. It is much more automated when starting as it finds the servers for you and you do not have to create presets anymore. It has created an interface with links to the forums and looks much more polished. The servers are listed in six updater and u can choose to join one directly.

My current issue is when joining from six updater i get a connecting failure error. It brings my to the in game server browser. All servers are X'ed out on the left. (even with low ping and room in the server) If i join from the in game server list i get the same error. From what i have been reading, battleye and all updates seem to be what most people are suggesting to check. I have battleye in both my arma and OA expansion folders and when i installed i grabbed the 1.6 patch from what i remember. Im not sure where to go to double check these to verify. If someone could work with me using some dumb down language that would be great.
