Weapon Suggestion: Chainsaw

Hey guys,

while talking to a YouTuber that some of you may know (www.youtube.com/wowacai), we came up with the idea of putting a chainsaw into the game.

It could be used like an axe and allow you to get wood in forests and could also be used like a weapon if removed from the toolbelt. Everybody enjoys killing zombies with a chainsaw and adding it could make the game seem even more like a zombie survival game and help get the game further away from the army simulator feel. Using the chainsaw creates a lot of noise which attracts both zombies and players, meaning that players might only use it as a last resort because of the risk element it has. This kind of risk is part of the game that we all love and would make you scared of using it in towns. It could spawn with some fuel but if players wish to carry on using it, they could refill it using jerry cans for example.

That's the basic idea, please leave comments with your thoughts below and hopefully we can get it added to the game :)

I think that would be a great idea, i would never be scared to use it, i would just cut through every zombie i see and if you get in the way then your dead :)

Only if using the chainsaw to kill zombies had a 1 in 5 chance of kicking back in sawing your face in half...

I swear a chainsaw would actually be fairly impractical in a zombie apocalypse? You'd get all sorts of problems with the chain getting jammed in a bunch of zombies, and/or falling off in lateral movement (as that's not really what they're designed for, surprising as it may seem)

I'd certainly use it however, if it did get put in :)

Chainsaw? Sure.

But, I think it should take ammo, like a Jerry Can for 500 uses. You'd probably never need to refuel it again, sure, but that isn't the point.

Next, a major weakness of a chainsaw. Sure it can rip apart a person, surely placing them into the afterlife. But it makes a lot of noise. With that, I say using the chainsaw (just wielding it) should put out noise to 50 meters or more, with a burst of noise when used outwards to 120 or so meters.

This way, it attracts zombies, as well as players. The latter burst of noise is more like a balance thing. Or whatever, I really won't care if a chainsaw was added or not. The engine doesn't really support melee so it would be buggy like the rest of them.

A chainsaw is about as loud as a silenced pistol, by the way. So if silenced pistols are silent, then chainsaws should be silent.

(Just kidding. There really should be a sound meter or something that fills the longer a sound is made...because a glass breaking is loud but less likely to draw attention than someone walking over the broken glass.)
