A mode suggestion for the future possibly?

Recommended Posts

I'll start this off by saying that I have not really thought about this idea a whole lot before putting it up here so there may very well be issues with the suggestion that I have not taken into consideration that would stop this from being a viable idea/add-on for the game.

Anyway, the basic idea of what I had in mind was a game level for a single player at a time that consisted of a wide open field with possibly some buildings scattered around it and a couple of player spawn points on it to be created on.

Next to each player spawn point would be some sort of weapons cache that the player can access, much like the script-able boxes you see certain players using now in-game. These weapon cache's would hold a minimum one of each weapon and a few specific items. Food and beverages would not be in the cache's as the meters they fill up are not required in this level/mode.

Now of course zombies are in the level too as they are critical for this maps primary function, which is to give players a space on which to test out weapons and possibly zombie-sneaking tactics.

I suggest this idea because I have found that with the only sniper I found on a player in a server on Day Z ever that I was horrible with aiming with it, I would have been lucky to hit anywhere within a doorway from 20 meters away, the same applies for other weapons on certain servers as the latency affects my shots, me being in Australia and all.

Some people may say that it wouldn't work at helping anything but at a LAN that was hosted two days ago where one of the players had that box script I had previously spoken about and gave me and one of the other players there a CZ-550 to test on him at multiple different ranges and heights I found that my aim in general was better with scopes and it was good fun just to try out aiming and practising. Overall I feel that it would help a lot of the newer players who have never fired a shot in Day Z let-alone ARMA II before. I cannot say if it helped the other player to aim either but I feel it probably did.

Also if we ended with this mode being added in then it would allow the separation of the players who hack this game to destroy somebody else's progress and enjoyment in the game and the players who simply cannot shoot to save their own life and need a place to get a little better at aiming with the weapons they can find and carry in servers.

Like I said, there may be things that I have not taken into consideration with this suggestion but I honestly feel it could help the newcomer player-base and even some of the veterans in this game who just want a bit of mindless shooting fun.

If you have read this far then thank you for reading this and I thouroughly look forward to the feedback on this and what the rest of the Day Z community feels on this idea.

Or just try the tutorial missions supplied with Arma. There's a shooting range, medical tutorial, basic movement, helicopter tutorial, hell, you can even try skydiving from a plane. Also there is an armoury where you can try weapons until your hearts content. Basically, disable DayZ in your Arma expansions and try playing Arma. Everything you need is already there.

I did think about that option yes, but does Day Z have less weapons than what ARMA II uses normally? Because if it has a lot less than ARMA i feel I'd just be wasting time toying with certain guns that will never end up being in my hands on a server at some point.

Also may I ask if the weapons tutorial on ARMA uses stationary targets for most small arms training?

Again, if that is the case then I would still like to have a specific Day Z range where zombies would run around at the different speeds and styles they are capable of moving in so I can have practice with that and not a pop-up target.

I just cannot seem to always get it. Might be my mouse or net but otherwise I just suck and need practice.
