Let there be a "true map border"

The map needs an invisible wall or a giant fence or something.

On my server, i am in a group of 9 players. But there are no cars, no bicycles, not motorboats, nothing! Instead we found huge camps with lots of Loot *evilgrin*.

We are roaming the server for a week now and all weve found concerning a vehicle was an old Hatchback, in the midst of a forest near the map border! So, of course other players had the car, and thats completely okay.

But whats not okay is that many ambitioned Players are so ambitioned, they put away all the vehicles from the map and put them somewhere into the middle of nowhere, Kilometers beyond the maps border! Why? For trolls sake, i guess! Just to make sure no one else will get a grip of it. This_Plain_Sucks! Indeed i think a helicopter should be able to cross the borderline, but only when he is in the air! Once he lands on the land beyond the border, the players AND the helicopter should be killed/destroyed/despawned!

Yes, Dayz should be a hard game. But also hardgames must work within some rules! And since most of the players arent capable of controlling their inner troll, i think rocket should do something about protecting those players who still see a game to have fun with in Dayz, and not a place to troll the guts out of all the other players around them! Vehicles are an important part of Dayz, and nobody should be able to put them to rest 30 kilometers beyond the maps border, save it there and then laugh about the other players who are madly looking for one, especially since theres maximum number of vehicles "active" anyway!

weee, another person who doesn't know the difference between Arma and DayZ.

Also, you can put vehicles/tents beyond the border, but they will get wiped.

Do your research, before posting.

Oh yeah sherlock, you made my day. First of all i dont understand how you connect my posting with Arma. Maybe you are willing to enlight me? And all the other readers who havent got insight into the twisted paths of your sophisticated, highly developed mind?

Second id like to know where you got this information from. Maybe you can post some link? Because its frickin annoying to be assaulted with Noob-flame-blurp, without any evidence to disprove my point laid out!

So better prepare yourself before trolling!

The lack of a "true map border", is a arma problem/feature. So why are you bitching on the DayZ forum about? The Arma forum is on Bohemia Interactive Studio's website. http://www.bistudio.com/

Sure DayZ could place a border of fences all the way around the map....and then we could all play with a lovely solid 5 FPS.

I've heard that you cannot put vehicles outside 000000, otherwise it gets wiped, but then again i hear that it is possible. Can somebody confirm which info is the right one?

If you go outside of the border of the map a A.I. tomahawk missile should spawn out of nowhere and blow you to smithereens.

What, like in Crysis? NICE!

Good times that game. Run over a sea turtle, slaughter some koreans, then ramp a stolen speedboat off a rock and out of bounds, only to snag a missile to the face.

Isn't this already fixed? (Stuff outside the map gets wiped), also you should look up the definition of trolling because placing vehicles outside the map is not trolling...

You don't need a giant fence to stop people from going outside of the map. The simple answer is a map trigger, much like how zombies are spawned in, how the game forces your character to swim, etc. Just set a trigger along the map border. You step over the border, you die, plain and simple. For effect, you could have signs every X amount of meters warning players not to venture any further.
