Dgenerate 7 Posted August 5, 2012 My friend recently convinced me to try out this game(mod), and after watching a couple videos, I was sold. However, after buying Arma 2+ expac and downloading the DayZ Mod, I feel like I was a little misled.Instead of the survivalist, you vs world vs players game I thought this would be, it turns out that this game is more like: you vs world vs players vs bugs/bad mechanics.I LOVE the concept of this game, and I understand it is a modification of another game, but the amount of bugs and weird mechanics I've run into has almost made me regret the purchase. Sitting on 5minute+ loading screens, or not loading in at all has been one of the largest disappointments, and I am on a fairly powerful computer. The other major letdown is the inconsistency of zombie "aggro". Zombies walking through walls and teleporting around the map is another major issue I am getting fed up with.I have a friend who I was telling them about the concept of the game, and became interested in purchasing the game and mod. I honestly had to tell him to hold off on his purchase because knowing that if I were having problems with the game, he'd have a much harder time dealing with the issues when he came across them.In the end I am not going to say I dislike the game, but I honestly dont see how I will be able to keep my long-term interest in it if I have to work so hard to get past all of the big issues the game has. Maybe the Arma 2 company will see how successful this mod is and focus some effort into further streamlining it? Let's face it, I did not buy Arma 2 for Arma 2, I bought it to play a multi-player zombie survival game.
DarkRaven123 602 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) You should try Arma 2.It's an incredible game, and you won't feel as if you "wasted" money. If anything you should've lurked here before buying the game.Edit - you also have to remember that the mod is in alpha, it will get better. toastymcbutterbuns 34 Posted August 5, 2012 What map are you playing on? They don't tele btw, they SPAWN around the map. Unless you got some hackers (which is likely).
Afgoo 114 Posted August 5, 2012 Sorry for your disappointment bro.If anything, I'd recommend you continue to stop in to check on the progress of the mod even if you are not playing. That is what I do now due to the hackers/ and graphical glitches going on at the current moment. Magnum Opus 26 Posted August 5, 2012 (edited) I have to somewhat agree regarding the survivalist, although the "PvP" aspect of the game does somewhat keep you on your toes. When the mod was first released it was very much a survival game, avoiding zombies in a group of people whom you didn't know.Once everyone knew their surroundings they turned against other players, I try my best to avoid any contact with anyone who may pose a threat. If that situation was to occur, I'd be the first to react.Remember, this game is still an ALPHA. Edited August 5, 2012 by iHighland

As I said, the concept to me is gold. I just hope they are able to tweak it and make it less of a headache to actually play.
Siggy (DayZ) 95 Posted August 5, 2012 This game at the moment is you vs hackers, nothing else, the game is unplayable because of them, and not until that is fixed then this game will become playable, at the moment a little script kiddie gets on pressed 1 button and the whole server dies to a nuke or gets teleported to the 1 spot and gets massacred.
