Unable To Interact With Dropped Backpacks

What happened: When switching backpacks, or accidentally dropping current one, the model stays on the ground but no options are given to open/take it. Opening gear doesn't show the backpack and neither does trying multiple angles when trying to interact with it. Essentially complete loss of items in backpack due to being unable to open and retrieve items.

I was having this issue too for a long time. I resolved it by dropping my pack on the ground before I try to replace it with a newer one. I haven't had the issue since then.

My problem seems to only occur when I try to put a pack in my inventory when I'm still wearing my old pack.

You really need to make sure you're doing it on level ground and that you've already dropped the backpack you're wearing, otherwise it has a tendency to break horrendously.
