How to determine if a server is dead or has been moved?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right subforum for this topic but I thought that the content was most relevent to "server general."

I was recently playing on my usual server (note that I don't own the server, just play on it), when suddently it went offline. I decided to close the game and restart it to determine if I had been kicked due to some error or other problem, but when I filtered the server list for the name of the server, it wasn't even listed.

This led me to two possible explanations:

1. The server is down, either indefinitely or temporarily for maintanence/due to a dropped connection.

and

2. The server name has been changed.

The name of the server is DayZ - US1279 (1.7.2.4/95389) (Regular|3D:ON|CH:ON) dayzmod.com - brotropolis US West and it is no longer listed at all. Could someone shed some light on whether the server is still existant or how I could go about determining this? Also, if the name has been changed, how could I find the new name for the server so that I might join it?

I have the same problem. My camp (with a lot of good gear) was on US35. The server is now offline. Will it ever come back, or should we begina a new camp? http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/184.164.138.42:2352/

Something similar has been happening on us1329...

One day the server randomly restarted, hosted through defcon ... came back up with a new name US 405 (however there was already a us 405 that i remember playing on) and we were spawned on the shore. Buddy and I begain heading north to see if the vehicle spawns that I found on the original name were still there and to determine if it was a completely different server config or just a name.

On our way up we came across a few tents with some stuff so we were like sweet and took it. About 400 meters away we found a Ural beside a barn completely deserted. When it was listed as us 1329 I had just found the Ural, at it's spawn at skalka, repaired it, drove it to our camp and saved it. Now we knew it was a completely different server..we setup camp again but later that day everything is gone from the camp we set up (at the same location as it was on us 1329). Next restart, still gone. The day before this happened I emailed the admin to find out about automatic restarts, when they are, etc. The next day it's back to us 1329, my original camps are back and everything seems good to go.

By this point the owner responded and since I've been playing with him and his crew regularly. Since then thigns have been running fine for the most part, He doesnt have automatic restarts setup and doesnt have an option to set them up in his control panel. Most of the restarts seem fine, but then just yesterday camps were dissapeared completely, and it was just us playing so we asked one of the admins to restar the server. Low and behold, it was back (known bug). Later on the server restarted on it's own, the truck I had saved recently was not where I was at after loading it up. I finaly hike back to camp and there it is sitting in my comp, HOWEVER, not the same position and save from the last manual restart.

So something fishy has been going on for sure. Today we asked the admin to restart the server after a hacker came in and was using all sorts of vehicle spawn/teleport/godmode/etc scripts with the server taking forever to load. Servers come back online and BAM listed as 405 again with our camps gone.

TLDR: It's almost like our server restarts and becomes a server that's already existing using it's configs, and then reverts back to how it was a few days later. Known issue, DayZ issue, DefCon hosting issues, or another issue? That's what we're having trouble figuring out.
