Stupid BattleEye

Recommended Posts

Argh.

Okay yes this is a kinda rage thread but I'm still gonna play I'm not going to say aww screw this game and quit but seriously, why is battleeye even in use. It has to be one of the most useless anti-cheats I've come across on. Not only does it not prevent hackers but it also boots you from the game when it fails to update.

Today I found myself a nice untouched helecrash site, I managed for the first time to find myself an L85A2 AWS and what happens, BattleEye kicks me from the game randomly saying it wasn't able to update. Now I'm pissed off already knowing how touchy this game is when logging off after just picking up gear so I log on expecting my new freaking awesome gun to be gone. I log in and low and behold no L85A2 AWS.

Tbh just remove the useless program if it's not going to be stable or work as intended.

I agree, if BattlEye isn't going to stop the hackers, the DayZ dev team might as well permit BattlEye-disabled servers.

Hopefully the hacking issue will be resolved with the next patch, as Rocket said "Hacking is our #1 priority right now".

Its not useless, if it was gone you would definitely notice. Its not perfect however, and you were unlucky. Make sure your firewall has battleye listed as safe.

Anger is the natural reaction to what happened but you need to learn how to take these things in your stride. There is no one to blame so move on.

omgwtfbbq, you werent kicked by battleye.

battleeye is retarded; i got kicked for a ping of 115 on numerous attempts to join a server.

That is a setting controlled by the server admin. In this case, BE is working perfectly fine.

Agreed whole-heartedly. My signature has even reflected it as of recently due to an earlier experience today. Although I finally got it out of the way after trying to connect to a master server for the millionth time (the superior anti-cheat applications out there arn't sending me to their website for every update, neither should this).

Is anyone yet to hear a story where BattlEye has delivered justice? No? Is anyone yet to hear of a story about hackers

? Just to continue hacking from there? How about spawning free weapons? Or
? Or even being
?

Just what sort gamebreakers is BattlEye supposed to cover? Did Bohemia actually give them money? These hackers are directly performing some of the most basic, conventional "crimes" in online gaming. Most of these hacks appear to scarcely use any resources that are exclusive to DayZ and should've been fixed for the vanilla game.

I really want to see a list of what BattlEye manages to accomplish. I'm not even seeing scraps to work from. It does a good job of kicking someone for interacting with a car. How dare he!

To play Devil's advocate, BattleEye has blocked many people before. If you'e ever seen the message XXX was kicked by Battle Eye that's because the player has been logged as a scripter/hacker. However it can't predict the future, If someone starts hacking the game won't immediately know. It will log the situation and then in a wave of mass bans it will take down a person with enough logs.

However, due to the troublesome nature of ARMA2 flexibility (troublesome for the following reason) the game was meant to be customized for any situation that could be contrived. Because of this certain scripts are labelled as "fair" and it's these that are currently causing the players of DayZ trouble. Rocket says he's working on it and the rest of us can only wait until whatever he has planned rolls out.

Until then we have to take it in stride and remember rule 1 of dayZ: Don't get attached to your gear.
