Sad That I Will Now Shoot First Ask Questions Later

Recommended Posts

So I had finally gotten some decent gear. I had a rifle, a pistol, some medical supplies, everything was looking up. I was really starting to enjoy myself. Yesterday after I looted a building I was on the top floor of this tower. I shot a zombie and then decided to quit. Today when I spawn I'm on the ground floor. Literally 2 seconds after I spawn (not joking, I didn't even have time to take one step) I get a hatchet to the back of the head. Now it's probably my fault for quitting in a stupid spot, but I was hoping that there were actually players that wanted to play a zombie survival and not just murder people. That's is how I felt. Like this guy just committed cold blooded murder. And although I didn't even see his name, it made me feel like he was no better person then some scumbag real life murderer. This game really inflict some crazy emotion.

Oh well.....only quitting deep in the woods from now on. Lesson learned.

Shoot to kill. Anyone near you with a weapon and looking weird. Kill them. No Questions Asked. It's kill or be killed.

Bandits or other survivors, even zombies aren't the only issues to be wary of.

Play the game as if the logged in session will be just that. A life = logged in session.

You'll have better outlook. :)

My outlook is fine, I was just hoping there were some people that actually wanted to help others, and not just murder everything that moves. Tbh The WarZ community seems much more rational in this point. But only time will tell.

Maybe the guy with the hatchet panicked when you just appeared in front of him. Maybe he thought that you would just turn around and shoot him ?

Honesty you probably made the dude piss himself and it was a knee jerk reaction to swing for the fence. I almost shot my buddy the other day because he forgot to tell me he was entering the same warehouse as me. So all in all, I'm sure he didn't do it to be mean. He was probably just freaking out :)

Well, he had an axe, you had guns. He wants your guns to survive, so he kills you and takes them. More reliable method of survival then him saying "hey let's be friends and you can babysit me" when you are just as likely to kill him for food or something.

It's not all deathmatch mentality, people need supplies, and you have them.

1) log out in high loot spots

2) log out in a town

it may happen that someone makes you something bad with these premises

It's kill or be killed.

^this

How could the dude standing back of you really know that you ain't going to turn around and kill him?

Stop making those threads and try to figure out how the one who killed you saw the situation from his point of view.

You walk into a firehouse and then fully geared guy spawns in front of you and you are telling me that you wouldn't shoot? If you don't you have 99% chance to die in next 5 seconds and many if not all survivoirs are not willing to risk it.

This is a VERY controversial issue. the Kill or be Killed. Trust. How far can *trust* go in this game? Is the threat zombies or players?

In an interview with Rocket, i learned this game is an experiment. Its sued to see how ppl deal and interact with others and in givin situations.

People are scared. Everyone is scared of loosing stuff, hell im even scared.

What we have to do *if your a realism fan*, is look at this a bit deeper. Is the trust u *could* earn from this player, worth the chance of a stab in the back?

How do u know that other players goals or intentions? People dont want to take a chance, they feel safe with killing.

And in seriousness, it is the safest method. A dead player cant kill you. But, like previously quoted, what IF you were the player with the hatchet?

You dont know what people will do, and thats why they are the ultimate prey. They are unpredictable. With that your forced to make a choice.

Everyone will make their own, dependent on the situation, ususally the one that benefits them.

SO why argue about morality, when in fact your the hippacrit? Ive killed players, yes, i felt threatened, and killed them.

If you wait for them 2 shoot @ u, u have the chance of dying.

Im not a person 2 trust others easily IRL, so why would i virtually?

I guess, all in all, what im trying to get across, is if EVERYONE has this KOS mentality, the game will be a PVP game with a side of zombies, instead of a zombie game with a side of PVP.

And us, as a community, and DayZ as an alpha mod, have the choice to shape that. Im not saying trust everyone. Thats your choice. Just quit complaining because you made the choice on your own free will.

Always look @ both sides of the situation and THAT my friends will open your eyes to realism and reality.

Don't give up hope. There are players out there that are still helpful and oriented towards team work and group participation.

I'd probably freak out and axe you too. My first murder was a random guy who ran into the building I was in and I just axed some zombies so I axed him as well. I never log out in a city unless I need to leave the game for something irl.

there are about 2 billion places to hide, these 2 billion places has this one object, this one object is great for log out cover, go find it, you kinda see it all the time in arma.

Sorry that happened to you but it happens to everyone. You cannot gather up great gear and hope to keep it. That's just not possible with so many emotionally immature and selfish people in the game. What are we going to do, make it only available to people who prove they can play nicely? No, so we just have to man up, grit our teeth and start over. It's gut-rippingly heart breaking to lose everything but I just smile and start over - once I've calmed down.

Here's how I go about it. If I see another player, I direct chat "We have guns trained on you, are you friendly or dead?"

If they say friendly I help them out, group up, give them supplies, but I never tell them I don't have a sniper overwatch, and I never stick around long.

If they say nothing, I shoot them. Simple as that.
