what altitude must i be for parachutes to activate in a helicopter

I've played a bit Arma2 ... from my experience the minimum altitude is 140m for a relatively safe jump. You still will die 20%...

200 meters can be considered as safe.

Ah, and you have to activate the parachute yourself (mousewheel) after you jumped out.

Haven't tried this in DayZ though.
