Malachi Krieg 22 Posted August 4, 2012 Are your PC specs up to par? What's the PING to the server you are on? How are you connecting/launching the game?
SentientRobot 16 Posted August 4, 2012 Try a less populated server, otherwise there are certain things you can do to prevent lag, try googling "Arma II run faster tips"

Malachi Krieg 22 Posted August 4, 2012 Might I suggest using DayZCommander instead of Six Launcher. The Six Launcher was great to get me started, but the filtering and searching system of DayZCommander is lightyears better. Six Launcher is horrific at reporting the actual PING response from poled servers.
SynisterSilence 5 Posted August 4, 2012 Lower-latency and less populated servers are best. Why? Because the server is doing most of the CPU work. High populated or just plain slow server means it's not doing as much work for you. People with fast computers and fast internet don't have to worry about this... but people like me, do. :cAlso Go ahead and find some good Arma 2 optimizations. If your FPS is low, just lower all your settings except for your video memory... set that to "Default." Keep your 3D resolution at the same as your native, or if you don't mind some blurriness, one setting lower (for a small FPS boost). There's plenty of other tips, like configs and whatnot... but it's best to go and find and change them yourself, to your own preference.
Malachi Krieg 22 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) OH! And for the love of whatever deity you pray to... turn off Post Processing Effects. What crap that is... Edited August 4, 2012 by Malachi Krieg

Are you talking about networking lag or graphic lag? What are your basic PC specs? You can always try www.systemrequirementlabs.com to see if your computer can handle ArmA II. Malachi Krieg 22 Posted August 4, 2012 networking lag and graphic lag i think. but how do i check if my computer can handle ArmA II? i checked the site but i don't see anything related about arma IIOn the pulldown on the front page (second blank line) you can find ArmA II: Operation Arrowhead and select that. Check it to see if your computer specs are up to par. As for telling whether or not you are dealing with network or graphic lag, start ArmA II: OA itself, go to Singleplayer and go to either Boot Camp or Armory (I suggest the latter since you can load the Chernarus map). If you load up and everything is choppy and unresponsive, that's graphic lag as you aren't using a network connection at all at that moment. In there, play with all of your graphic settings, lowering them until you get a decent functionality from your computer.

Malachi Krieg 22 Posted August 4, 2012 it finished but it says "utility installation failed"Do you have Java installed and up-to-date? If you'd rather, just hit the Windows Start button and type DXDIAG in the search field for your PC specs and post the basics here (Video Card, CPU, RAM, etc.)
bogulez 11 Posted August 4, 2012 I find that some servers are super laggy even with a reasonable ping, it takes like 10 seconds to bring up the text in the bottom right corner. I just go to a different server.

Malachi Krieg 22 Posted August 4, 2012 If you run the DXDIAG from the Windows Start button and go to the Display tab, it will tell you what your video card is. I am going to go out on a limb and say you're probably running a much older card (based on your CPU and RAM specs) or an integrated graphics card, which is most definitely not going to be able to handle the game.
