My vision for chat in this game is fully realistic. No text, have to use voice, default is direct (local area) voice, with the option of finding a usable radio in order to talk remotely with other people.

Even though I share your vision, I don't think it's a feature which should be add. There are a lot of players who don't have a working microphone/headset, or play the game with friends while using Teamspeak/Ventrilo/Mumble and don't use the ingame voice chat (like me).

Besides that; the voice chat is still bugged in ARMA2 so unless it's fixed first, I don't think it's a good idea to force it.

Adding radios, which can be used besides the text chat, is ofcourse a great idea and I hope the textchat can be modified to use it in a more appropriate way (no side chat, no global chat, direct com only without 20m, etc.)

This has been discussed a lot already but sure it would be nice. I don't see why text should be banned though, it would work just as well as voice, there is already a clear disadvantage with text and it's that you have to stop to type something.

There is already a suggestion regarding ACRE, I fully support it, but because not all players have mics it should be up to server admins to decide whether they wanna use it or not.
