Nem (DayZ) 0 Posted May 25, 2012 Hey folks, figured I would keep this short and simple. Friend and I have been watching this mod develop for a while. We're both gamers on a budget, (I recently moved, he recently having unexpected bills.), and were wondering if it was worth while to pick up ArmA 2 and the Expansion pack for it for the price that they're at now or wait it out and try to see if the upcoming Summer Sale on steam lowers the price. Mod looks rather fun...and i can see myself losing hours of my life to it but...i like to ask other gamers their honest opinion about it. With a lot of interesting games coming out and have come out...a gamers wallet can be a little tight =p. Thanks for any Input!~
alihabbas.92@gmail.com 2 Posted May 25, 2012 i'd say personally worth it.. some frustrating aspects at time but overall a really immersive experience that's great with buddies, or with no buddies the intensity of making buddies with people who may kill you at any moment... Bandage. 3 Posted May 25, 2012 I started as a lone wolf with not much experience about a bit more challenging games (when we discount rogueslikes and such). Really, I just had to buy Arma:CO just because this mod just gushed out it's potential all over the place. It also happened that I liked the concept of Arma itself, as I tried the free version of it first. My first impressions with this game was frustration with the mechanics themselves. Turak (DayZ) 0 Posted May 25, 2012 And the game itself is not bad, I liked it I mean.
~Ren~ 0 Posted May 25, 2012 As I posted to someone else yesterday, my games are currently 80% good with the occasional bug, some are just irritating and some are game breakers (spawn bug) meaning I have to find another server to get my character back where he was last saved. The mod in its current state plays better than some games I've paid full price for, once you're on a server and everything works well you can just lose hours in the game, I like to explore and this mod gives you every opportunity to do that. It's still an alpha and going through a lot of changes with more to come but it's still a lot of fun and I can't wait to see where it will be in 6 months time. salty (DayZ) 39 Posted May 25, 2012 It's a tough call, the Steam summer sale should be just around the corner. However, with the recent success of DayZ, ArmA 2 is now the current top seller so it may not even be on sale. :(If DayZ looks like your kind of game none of the new summer releases are going to compare. I definitely think it would be a good investment.
Stinglock 1 Posted May 25, 2012 My honest opinon is if you didn't want to buy it when you saw the videos/articles on it then you'll probably do better to skip it, and wait for it to come on sale when it's cheaper and it's had more updates.Heck, after I saw a post on this the decision to get it was no brainer, I would have gotten it even if it was on full price, there's actually not much really like this currently out for gamers. Nem (DayZ) 0 Posted May 26, 2012 Thanks for the input folks, going to hold off till all four of my friends who are into this type of stuff can join me for the drama that is trying to survive in a zombie setting. While i think about it; any suggestions for 4 east coast players as to where to play or...perhaps should we look into joining a clan or some such or the public servers fairly good? Is there any issues with hackers as well? Thanks again.
Sgt.Spam 42 Posted May 26, 2012 You must be on a serious budget if you can't swing $15?It's pretty damn fun.
Nem (DayZ) 0 Posted May 26, 2012 Oh i can swing the cash...it's more of my friends being unable to. Was under the impression that it was thirty, not fifteen. Unless there was some sort of Sale going on i wasn't aware of. =p
stilton 14 Posted May 26, 2012 this aint a poke at you at all....But i'd hold off until your friends get it.Because you're going to join, get picked off by more experienced players (because your on your own) think: F>and ragequit..Or perhaps not. But it seems like there's a lot of that going around... :)..Whereas you get in with a group of 4 or more people and manage to meet up you'll be the ones picking off other people, which will be glorious... and even if you bug out every 5 minutes it'll be more fun than running around on your own.. Nem (DayZ) 0 Posted May 26, 2012 Considering I have never played ArmA before, I had planned on waiting...however what i may do is surprise them all by getting it for them once we're all tired of Diablo. We'll see. I have been watching the youtube videos and it does seem that it would be more interesting with a small group to fan out and scavenge rather then praying to myself quietly every time i hear footsteps. Heh.
