SevereCalamari 0 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) Hey!I was just playing DayZ with a friend (awesome game by the way) and I came up with an idea that I thought could maybe fit pretty well into the game, also make it more immersive, so I thought I would let you guys know, maybe you could think about implementing it if you think its a good idea :PSo basically the idea is that when you create your character, rather than only allowing the player to choose their gender, they can also choose a certain trait. This trait is basically something which the character would've hypothetically had in the world before the apocalypse. For example, one trait could be the 'Tinkerer' trait, which basically allows the player to build a bicycle for example, given that the player has found the required parts. Another could be the 'Gunsmith' trait, which allows the player to create certain guns. At first I thought this could lead to balance issues, but then i realised it's already very difficult to scavenge, and so it should'nt be much of an issue. Also, what you can do is for example in order to make a bicycle you would need let's say 2 scrap metals and 2 tires, and then you can make a bike, which can only be used for transport but does no damage to others. On the other hand, in order to make a gun, you would need more parts but you get something more powerful in return.[Article Edited]Ok so im guessing the currency system i suggested was kind of shit...but like i said in one of my replies, a barter system would naturally work between players if the trait system was implemented, and u can gain one-another's trust rather than getting shot down all the time :S Edited August 4, 2012 by SevereCalamari

SevereCalamari 0 Posted August 4, 2012 Yeah i never said anything about a leveling system or classes (well the traits aren't exactly classes)The currency system is a bit vague i'll admit i just thought it would be a nice thing to have if the trait system was implemented...it would be something quite small anyways

SevereCalamari 0 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) yeah a barter system would work naturally between playersi mean most of the time u see another player and u just shoot them or get shot but this can actually give players incentive to work together and trust each other Edited August 4, 2012 by SevereCalamari
necroslord 73 Posted August 4, 2012 I wouldn't like to see NPCs on the game. Player only interaction is more appealing to me. Also about currency...... currency doesn't work very well on games. It only thrives in games where in can be sold for real money. Remember Diablo 2? The game standard currency (gold) was sunk into oblivion and stones of jordan started to be used as coins. Funny to think about it.
SevereCalamari 0 Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) ok i will take back what i said about currency...i really hadn't thought about properly and anyways i said its a bit vague and maybe it wouldn't work...but i still think the trait system could work, so i edited the main idea :P Edited August 4, 2012 by SevereCalamari
