Problems with DayZ

Recommended Posts

Here are some problems with dayZ i feel would make game-play alot better if resolved.

1. Horrible physics (ARMA problem)

2. No sidechat

3. Long load time (Not easily fixed)

4. Host price servers to high! (I can buy a VPS server with 10x the power for $40..)

I believe we should have something like a radio, you can chat with other survivors from a area of 40 feet squared. That way you can communicate with someone before they decide to blow your head off.

I've played on custom servers with sidechat on and it's really been fun. All players get along and it really makes zombie killing amazing. I don't know why they took it off to begin with, why wouldn't someone talk to another surivor? Just kills the whole realistic feeling.

I feel the physics problem may never be resolved. I just wish that when you ran a zombie over they wouldn't fly 100 miles into the air. Also, when you crash into a object with less weight then your car you come to a complete stop. Also, when falling, it seems sometimes falling 1 foot is enough to break all your limbs. I feel it's more of a lag issue when it comes to falling though.

1. Why are you even bringing it up then?

2. No, get out. Sidechat was cancerous and made my eyes hurt.

3. It doesn't take that long if you're using a 7200 rpm HDD

4. Cool story, bro

1. Go to ARMA2 forums for ARMA2 problems.

2. Sidechat is easily spammed.

3. I do agree with this... But it is mainly a server/system spec problem.

4. Why would you want to host a server with over 3k servers to chose from?

About the radio:

Direct Com is already 40 m radius, and radios are already planned in the future. They will work with groups, I believe.

1. ARMA 2 problem, not a DayZ problem.

2. Sidechat was constantly spammed and takes away from immersion.

3. Patience is a virtue.

4. I actually have nothing to say about this one because I don't care for hosting a server.

Sidechat isn't even close to an issue with the mod. I could think of 1000 other things to list, but you list sidechat? Jesus

1. You're gonna have to elaborate on that

2. Meh. On or off, I don't care.

3. Upgrade your rig. SSD's are well within affordable prices now.

4. You are clearly not cut out to be an admin, so why worry about it?

I have an SSD and yes, the map loads just like that but he is talking about the server loading times which can take an absolute age! I'm sure the infinite loading screen has not been fully addressed.

"Upgrade your rig. SSD's are well within affordable prices now."

I run a 160gb SSD, and a 7200RPM 2tb harddrive

"You are clearly not cut out to be an admin, so why worry about it?"

Are you kidding me? What do you need to know? You have absolutely NO power on your own server, they don't even let you turn sidechat on ffs..

"Sidechat was constantly spammed and takes away from immersion."

That's why i mentioned a radius, All i'm saying is in a real zombie attack, wouldn't you try to communicate with others rather then trying to survive on your own? It's fairly boring not being able to talk to others, why not make this a singleplayer mission? It's basically the same thing you get out of multiplayer...

I wish you at least had the option to configure your server, like add sidechat.
