The Wild Hunt 0 Posted May 25, 2012 Draining hunger and thirst while offline is incompetent and short sighted design. There are fifty threads about this already. But since it hasn't been fixed. IMO spamming the forums with copy threads is the only way to go. Some people have lives outside Day Z. I get that its your job rocket, I get that you probably don't have much life outside the game nowadays since the massive popularity boom... But fans of your (brilliant and devilishly, satisfyingly punishing) mod sometimes actually can't play the game. Since we're likely to lose all we've worked for any given second of play time. Why fuck with us when were off making sure we don't get our beans taken irl?Inb4 "threads about this". I know. But that doesn't change the fact that I logged in today after two days of fourteen hour Southland coal mine shifts, wanting to wind down with a little bleak industrialist horror, but BAM dead and a loss of everything.. simply due to having to work...Peace out rocket. I love hard games. I love unique games. I don't love games that punish you for having other things to do than play... Is this Farmville...?
Mitritch 4 Posted May 25, 2012 OMG, is it difficult to always have two cans of beans and two water items before you disconnecting?Of all hurdles of the game this was the easiest to solve for me.
The Wild Hunt 0 Posted May 25, 2012 No I did have beans and water when i connected, but i died of thirst while eating the beans.Thats just dumb.
MR DELICIOUS 297 Posted May 25, 2012 I hear you bromo, but is it too hard to kill a couple thugs and take their sardines? Clearing a barn nets you the entire contents of the tinned food aisle and you can stick your head in a lake whenever you need now. I agree that it's a bit arbitrary, but I'm not going to die from it any time soon.Nothing like the "Ethiopian mile" to kick off your daily gaming experience. The Wild Hunt 0 Posted May 25, 2012 Yeah I get that the concept could work... if you have time to play every day. this was nearly three days I couldnt play which ended with me dying instantly after logging in.I know that I wont have a chance to play the game two days in a row, or more than twice or three times a week, probably ever (unless I get a new job but that wont happen til at least next year), which means that I really CAN'T play this game in its current state. Unless i want to become a spawn running CoD boy. I wouldn't die from it if I could play more. Or even if it kept the same function, but gave you maybe ten minutes after logging in in which you wouldnt die from it no matter how bad it was.I just don't think that designing the game to HAVE to be played every day is a particularly wise option.I want to be able to extensively strethc my survival out. I certinally don't see a lack of spare beans anywhere in Chern, as you said about barns. I agree, you don't actually die while offline, you just need to make sure you have some food and water when you log back in. Foresight.
The Wild Hunt 0 Posted May 25, 2012 Or maybe cap off how starved you get at one day of not playing or something.I'm all for making this game as hard as can be I just want it to be exclusive to the actual game play.
griffinz 2817 Posted May 25, 2012 Edited OP to make it more...DayZ related. If you get too attached to your character in this game, you're gonna have a bad time.

At the moment, system is designed in such a way that hanger and thirst will reach some very low levels over time and stay there unchanging with no regard to number of days you were absent. So all you need to recover from one week leave - is a can of beans and a can of water. Simple!
iashford 73 Posted May 25, 2012 I think the most that should happen is be borderline death when you log in, no matter how many days you're gone (I'm often gone from 2 days a week, up to 6 days in Brisbane), but the implications of not eating/looking after yourself should be more severe. Like, stomach grumbling so that it gives your position away to zombies or players. Dehydration makes your screen blurry and you stumble rather then run, etc.I'd much prefer to be more exposed to being killed, rather then instant death for not being able to play. By "thug" I was referring to zombies, not players. You can pretty much fire any gun near a town and the spaghetti and Pepsi run to you.

Something went wrong with ur character details. Or have you experienced this many times? As i haven't seen that happening to me like ever. I do have hunger and thrist when i log in, but no sudden deaths except from bullets
