I am having a ridiculously hard time finding a update 1.6 for this game. All the mirrors on the site are broken.

Are you referring to the patch for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead or the patch files to DayZ?

The latest build for dayZ is 1.5.8.4 and can be downloaded here:

http://dayzmod.com/downloads.php

(all mirrors worked fine for me)

If you are referring to the patch (version 1.6) for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead you can download the patch at armaholic.com:

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=15831

(I checked the download and it's working fine for me)
