nexium 0 Posted August 2, 2012 I really want to play dayz and am willing to pay the $30. There are 2 things that are holding me back from pressing "Confirm Purchase".1) I more than likely will be playing this game alone, most of my friends play other games. -I know it is a survival game.2) Will playing alone make dayz become boring? -I don't want to spend $30 and become bored within the first few hours because I am playing alone with no one to converse/work with.Opinions?Thank you everyone :)

Afgoo 114 Posted August 2, 2012 Probably depends on your personality. Are you at all reclusive by nature? Then you would be relaxed & happy, however, if you are very sociable you may not fair so well. As Buffjesus just said, there is an entire thread devoted to group and clan finding. lugaru 103 Posted August 2, 2012 Well if you brag enough about your exploits, your friends might want to jump in.That said I did a "review" of the game (obviosly it cant be reivewed, it is an alpha mod) that is pretty honest about the pros and cons of the game.http://www.theconnoisseurs.com/index.php/news/blog/956-dayz-p-review

nexium 0 Posted August 2, 2012 Wow that was quick replies, thank you to everyone replying. It seems similar to Splinter Cell(which I never played). It is basically a tactical game, objective survive. right? lol.
urspider2018@gmail.com 109 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Before you do ANYTHING with DayZ, play the tutorials and the singleplayer campaigns first.Otherwise your first experiences with DayZ will be worse than what they could be. SurvivorZ (DayZ) 18 Posted August 2, 2012 Best to play by yourself first anyway. You will make simple mistakes that experienced players will get agro with. When you can hold your own by yourself through a 2 - 5 day campaign, then your ready for team play. It's 30, and you get arma too. It's a good sim.
hsmagnet 14 Posted August 2, 2012 Should I try the arma 2 free first?yes and you can just buy the operation arrowhead expansion afterwards
urspider2018@gmail.com 109 Posted August 2, 2012 Should I try the arma 2 free first? No man, you should definitely buy the game, it's a great purchase, lots of fun. Once you get a hang for the controls I'm sure you'll find it a blast. Also, if you find that you don't really like DayZ, there's at least, like, 2 other mods you can try. TyRobot 100 Posted August 3, 2012 I really want to play dayz and am willing to pay the $30. However, I do not think soloing makes this game boring. If anything it makes it more intense. I play with 2-3 other people almost everyday. We do not force a set time since 2 of us are in North America while the other 2 live in the United Kingdom. Therefore, all play solo from time to time, too. It makes you an all around better threat to everything else in the game when you get a ghillie, sniper, NVGs, and all the survival tools because this allows you to solo easily.Don't knock it until you try it...
NFK 102 Posted August 3, 2012 I've played alone a lot, mostly without a vehicle. It requires a lot of patience and the willingness to spend hours roaming the map, but the rewards (finding a camp, escaping an ambush) are that much sweeter for the time put in. Plus, it really forces you to learn how to navigate properly.Of course, another style of solo play is to run to Cherno/Elektro, grab a gun, and deathmatch it up. The action is faster, but you die more often.
Swineflew 480 Posted August 3, 2012 I bought Arma and OA just for DayZ, and I've only played DayZ. I'm totally addicted to this game like a nerd.Just let it be known that this can be a very harsh game, which appeals to me. It's the same reason I played Eve Online and loved it.I've played a couple months alone, and recently I've been grouping up because playing alone for me got boring.Personally I got enough enjoyment out of the mod alone to Justify spending $30. I'd suggest watching a lot of videos of the game so you truly understand what it's about before buying it.
