Hiding Stuff "Off" the map

Hi there,

I often read about camps "off" the map. But what does this mean? I have recognized that the map which can be found in the game shows a much larger area than on the well known loot maps.

Is the area not on the loot maps the area off the map?

if you go far enough north or west the land is devoid of trees roads rocks etc and this will continue into infinity with the game randomly generating new terrain. this is "off the map" if you zoom out far enough on your map you will also notice two shades of blue in the ocean, the shade farther out is "off map"

though these are no longer an issue

Servers tend to locate them on random places afetr server restars ( tents,venichles etc. ) at least I think.
