Trouble with fresh install.

Followed the guide to the letter from a fresh reformat. Whenever I go to join a server it gets to the "waiting for character to create" then it opens the server browser over top and I have no way of getting back to the game. Its still technically in it but the browser is stuck over it and if I close it, it exits the game. Is this normal? I havent played in a while.

Any help is appreciated.

bump.

This is what it looks like. If I hit escape or anything it just goes to main menu.
