So i was running out of elektro, i had just resupplied with blood bags, morphine, etc. Was getting ready to meet up with some friends to start our DayZ (get it?). All of a sudden i hear a helicopter coming from my north so i immediately get down to the fucking ground and hope to god ghillie suits aren't too fucking obvious on the road. I hear the machine gunner start opening fire and i was like, FUCK i'm so dead....then i hear that distinct sound of an As50 that thing must have been almost 600m out because it sounded like a pop but regardless i could tell it was an as50, i look up and the chopper starts banking super hard. Whoever was sniping was one hell of a shot because he just 1 shot the pilot. I see about 4 ppl eject out and they all survive, then through my rangefinders i see about 6 or 7 ppl on the north side of skalisty island. 3 of them were skylined pretty hard so they were obvious the other 3 or 4 were somewhere down in the trees and at the range of around 600~700m unless you're kneeling or standing you can't really see ppl in deep grass.

I switch my view to the survivors and they're already amscraying out of there, most of them were actually coming towards my location and i didn't want to move because if they saw a bush suddenly start moving they would probably KoS no questions asked. When they were around 40 meters out i called out to them saying friendly. I could tell they were super nervous because one of them got super fucking spastic and started spinning around. I dropped my primary which was an as50 as well and equipped my hatchet. I did the bendy dance so they would see me and slowly crab walked towards them so they would see i wasn't hostile.

6 minutes later i had learned the entire backstory of this event. I'll be giving you guys the TL;DR version. They had 2 clan members guarding their home base location, they were apparently going to trade with this other group. They were definitely survivors, apparently they had this location so they could help out beginners going down the coast. They were lucky enough to have a heli and they were using it to go to different locations in order to organize a trade. This was apparently a decoy trade, they said when they got to the location immediately their 2 home base guards shouted out on mumble that they had been killed by a group of 7 bandits. The survivors immediately went back to their camp on their heli (which was when i heard them coming back and ripping up the hillside).

After hearing the story, i decided to help them out. Their 2 snipers had been killed, 1 at home base and the other was the pilot. However i was lucky enough to find that one of the surviving survivors (lol) was a spotter. Now I've been using the as50 for a week and a half straight i'm dead accurate up to 700m. However these guys were 800m~900m out and we were in the treeline on the mountain and DEFINITELY didn't want to go any closer. I zero'd in my as50 at 900m and switched out my m107 round for the 6 12.7x99 NATO as50 mags out of my backpack. (Why? you ask because the NATO rounds have less bullet drop). Just letting you guys know these rounds are fucking hard to find, i usually ONLY use them on vehicles because they WILL 1 shot any engine on ANY vehicle. However at 900m? i needed more accurate ammo.

I told the spotter to look for their snipers, i told them i had seen at least 3 guys in ghillie suits skylined back when i was down the mountain, so obviously after having run up the mountain and being at a higher altitude then they were, it wouldn't be as easy to see them anymore. However i must admit the spotter was quite good, if anyone knows anything about the as50 its that the zoom on the scope is terrible. At 900m your center dot is probably going to be bigger than your target. Knowing that i sucked up my balls and got ready to blow some heads off. The spotter found the first sniper and told me the exact location, took me about 40 seconds to actually see him and i prepared my first shot. I called out "Firing" and pressed my LMB, anddddd it hit right above the fucking guy. I immediately re-aimed and looked for movement, for some unknown stroke of luck the fool didn't move. I called out "firing" again and shot the guy right in his ass. On the bottom left side of the screen i saw the kill text "DrMagicTape has been killed". The guys on mumble were like fuck yeah, 5 seconds later that hillside just exploded in activity all of them started running to the south side of the island, i couldn't kill anyone near the top because they went behind trees and i lost LoS. However the 2 guys near the bottom of the hill weren't so lucky. I killed one of them straight off, the second guy i actually didn't one shot. I shot the 2nd fella in the leg once then re-aimed and shot him in the fucking head.

That was 3 down 4 to go, all of a sudden i see a god damn boat coming out the south side of the island and heading north, i had the spotter re-range them and he's like shit man thats like 1,100 meters. Once again i zero'd in my rifle. Now i have absolutely no idea where the engine block of a boat is, but i fucking hit it on my first shot. That thing started smoking and flaming like a mother fucker. Then the spotter yells out that he saw them swimming, then i hear them say they have some vehicles around the area and we could drive to a closer location so we could get some better shots, because if anyone has tried sniping at swimming targets. Its almost impossible to get sight of them and at 1000+ meters i wasn't going to hit them. We got in the vehicles and drove to Krutov Cap, i'll put up some pics of where we traveled.

As everyone who has tried swimming, its super slow. By the time we got to Krutov Cap, they had only been able to swim to that small island in between skalisty and krutov. The nice fellas, on the survivor squad hooked me up with a m4a1 cco sd before we engaged them. The instant we saw them, one of the survivors next to me with a mk 48 opened fire and shot down 2 of them instantly. (the mk 48 is a fucking beast) We saw the other 2 start doing the bendy dance and dropping their primary weapons and backpacks. I saw one of them drop an as50 and told them that he was probably the one who killed their pilot, he was immediately killed the last guy started doing a fucking chicken dance and was running around in circles. At this point i was laughing so hard i couldn't aim. For around 5 minutes we just kept shooting at him and missing on purpose. we slowly made our way towards him, we sent 1 person swimming across at a time. When we were all on the island (i was last) i heard them talking on the voice comm saying shit like GG, that was epic, etc. After around 15 min of talking i was starting to make my way back. I heard gunfire behind me, i turned around and i saw the guy with the mk 48 shooting EVERYBODY. I was like holy shit this mother fucker is crazy, i went prone and re-joined their mumble. They were all shouting and cussing i asked them what happened and they said that guy had been a fresh member about 3 days old in the clan, he was a spy for the enemy team apparently. What he didn't know was that i was still in range and i had a clear shot on him.

I asked them if they wanted me to kill the fucker, and they offered me everything i could ever dream of if i killed him. So i took a shot at 500m, and like i said i'm dead accurate with anything up to 700m so i took the shot, which was a headshot and dropped the piece of shit. Bottom left side of the screen i see a "JTriot85 has been killed".

At the end of the day, i made out of that whole dispute with a mk 48, m4a1 cco sd, a lot of mags. And the satisfaction of an epic dayZ. 5 minutes later my friends hop on mumble and i regale them with my tale of glory, and they're cussing because they had missed it all. :D

Second life ever (my first one I spawned right next to a zombie and spent a while trying to find a weapon in my gear [and trying to find the button for gear after a long hiatus from ARMA...]) I was crawling around Komarovo, my friend behind me downloading the game onto his laptop. I went into one of those buildings that has the small staircase leading up to a door after watching probably 6-7 zombies meander towards where I was. I crawl into the house and on the opposite side of the building one, two, three, four zombies just walk right through the door while I'm laying there without a weapon hoping they don't see me. They don't and I somehow make it up the stairs without anything hearing and right as I turn around and go prone again I watch one, two, three, four, five, six zombies walk right past the stairs.

My heart was pounding, my friend and I both laughing at the craziness that just happened, and we were hooked.

I was a fresh spawn in elektro and I saw the dumbest man alive. Shooting as AS50 on the roof of the hospital with about 500 zombies around the building so I took 1 lee enfield shot and had to do no looting to get all the best gear :) thats a pretty epic moment... the hunter became the hunted (never saw me)

This isn't really "epic", but I'll probably remember this particular moment for the rest of my life. I always play on night servers, just because it forces me to be more focused and alert through paranoia. I had been playing for about 2 hours, and I was really stressed out at this point from just being nervous about everything. I was descending down a hill towards a barn...when I was blinded. I had thought it was two players ambushing me with their flashlights from the hill to the south west, just beyond the barn. I've never hit the ground as fast I did right then. It felt like I was frozen in a flood light. Then I heard the sound of an engine. And then another. I took me a few seconds to register that and put two and two together, simply because I hadn't seen a working vehicle in-game before, let alone a convoy. The barn was maybe 20 yards in front of me, so, thinking I've been spotted by what was sure to be at least 4 bandits, I duck inside the barn and make for the top loft. I only had a crossbow at that point, but I would at least be able to take 1 with me. Surprisingly they moved on...but I avoided roads little bit more after that.

I've just never experienced anything like that before...just, absolute alienation. The game is just that immersing I guess.

I'll never forget my very first fight on DayZ. I was in the supermarket in Elektro looking for some basic supplies, when I heard gunfire in the distance. I went to the back room and started to prepare to defend myself. I only had an Enfield, though, so I was pretty aware that I was probably about to die.

Anyway, I was getting pretty paranoid from sitting in silence for 10 minutes hearing the gunshots getting closer and closer.

Finally I convince myself that I should be safe for the 30 seconds it takes to eat some beans, and when I look up there's a guy looking right at me. I take aim with my rifle in a complete spasm and the guy empties 6 rounds from his revolver at me. In this time I miss once and hit with the second shot.

Then I realise I'm not bleeding.

I wasn't even hit.

"Shit," I thought, "I can hear flies."

Sure enough, I'd hit the fucker in the head and he was flopped over on the other side of the wall (he must have been trying to run when I hit him).

Honestly, my heart was pounding like a motherfucker. It had to sink in that I'd killed a guy for a minute.

Took what I could and left the body for the next person - they might have had use for the scraps I couldn't carry.
