Tegla (DayZ) 112 Posted August 2, 2012 Just a question behind the morality of alt+f4 in certain situations.Let's say you just connected, and the server is laggy as hell. Like, you move your mouse to the right, and it takes like 5 seconds for your character to look to the right. You know that laggy feeling?Okay, so you connected, and some random player jumps in front of you. Is it okay to alt+f4 then? Keep in mind it is impossible to defend yourself or to try and comunicate because of the lagg.Would that be wrong?Just want your opinion, i think we all know the feeling of that horrible laggy servers that feel like they are fron Narnia or something.. Dawn (DayZ) 27 Posted August 2, 2012 i would disconnect, but not on a server with no lag :) only in these cases, or bugs. sometimes if a bug gets you, and you disconnect it might fix, sometimes ive broken my foot against a wall, then i logged out and back in and my foot was fixed ^^,
Tegla (DayZ) 112 Posted August 2, 2012 Yeah, so it's ok?I never do that in properly working servers, that's just gay
christianblank86@gmail.com 5 Posted August 2, 2012 I think the only situations where its ok is when you drop out of a plane/heli or suffer from a bug without being your fault, or if a hacker is trying to kill you with hacks/glitches,
avalontreman 89 Posted August 2, 2012 In the case where servers aren't responding correctly, or where conditions aren't ideal, yeah, I'd say that that's excusable. For the record, being shot at doesn't not count as not being ideal. :P
Scott Pilgrim 65 Posted August 2, 2012 Just out of sheer curiosity... were you near Berez looking at a Deer Stand, with an AK in hand + a camo outfit on, and you saw a guy with a crossbow in hand, then got shot repeatedly by another guy with an AK? If so, we thought you were gonna kill us. We did ask for identification and we were friendly, but you didn't respond... so we opened up.
Senrain 148 Posted August 2, 2012 If the player in front of you doesn't know you're there then you can alt-F4 and they will be none the wiser. However ALT-F4ing after getting shot/getting shot at is not okay at all.
christianblank86@gmail.com 5 Posted August 2, 2012 Should be like Diablo 3. If you press quit it takes 10 seconds till you are disconnected.

aHzdaNny 49 Posted August 2, 2012 Do you really need us to tell you it's okay though? Will whether or not we deem it 'okay' change whether you disconnect or not?

You should have watched your back before logging out. I mean, if you go to sleep at night in the wilderness were you know there is hostiles, would you not look around you before you bed down for the night? the screen stays on your character for the whole 10 seconds and you can cancel it if you start hearing shots. Dronax 33 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) I have tracked people from 800-1000m away with thermal/as50 and sniped them 1 shot when they would stnd still... theres no way of making sure you are safe before logging out unless u crawl under the biggest rock imaginable. You cannot scan 800m around u before u log and make sure there are no snipers prone in the grass....even hiding in bushes does nothing cus with thermal i can see completely where the person runs to... Dronax 33 Posted August 2, 2012 How? I have the lws rifle with thermal and i dont see through bushesyou can still see the heat through the leaves if you look close enough. it dosnt give you full sight but you can sometimes see where they are...regardless you can never be fully safe if soemone is tracking your movement. Someone stops and prones in a tree the tracker can still take a guess as to your location.
thecrackmuffin 22 Posted August 2, 2012 Certain situations ate acceptable, like when hackers are running amuck. I was playing with my buddies when all of a sudden a helicopter (back when they didn't spawn) crashed into a building next to us, and a ghillie busted out of the wreckage with an infinite ammo m4sd and god mode. He killed two of us before we d/c-d
