Need more matches/refillable lighters

Now I don't know if it's just me, but boxes of match seem to be VERY scarce.. Especially when considering the only two things you can do when low on blood is to eat crappy food, cook raw meat or get a blood transfusion. As blood transfusion requires two trustworthy players, we'll take this one out of the equation for now as i'm referring to playing who'd rather stay alone/don't have anyone near them for blood transfusions.

My character is pretty loaded out, got an M4A1, all the basic hunting/gathering/building gear, everything BUT a box of matches?! I'm low on blood (3500 odd) and cans of food just aren't enough to restore it, I've killed and gutted a few animals so have plenty of raw steak. Unfortunately i'm nowhere near any burning barrels... Boy a box of matches would be handy about now so I can cook this raw meat that's stinking out my backpack!

TL;DR - I think the matches are too rare, think about the amount of people that walk around with lighters in their pockets.. We should be able to make a fire a lot easier than this! Introduce refillable lighters maybe? :)

In my experience, no. A couple of my friends complain about them being rare. Then again, I am perfectly okay with searching around cherno/elektro a little longer to find some matches if I need to go on a long travel north after spawning so maybe I'm just an expect not the rule/

U just need to know where to look for them.

Atm I don't need much longer than 30 minutes to equip my charakter with all the stuff to survive.

Then I leave the big danger zones like cherno or elektro and go for good weapons and stuff....

I've had about 15 different characters with fair lifespans (anywhere between 2 hours to about 40) and i've only found two boxes! :| Am I just looking in the wrong place then?

the rarity of matches had been increased already in one of the recent updates. read the patch notes!

They are pretty rare in comparison to some military grade items. They should be made more common and have a limited amount of uses. Also there should be lighters added to the game too.

I support limited amount of uses to box of matches IF there will be lighters with the unlimited amount of uses. The idea is good. Edited August 2, 2012 by Teo

I totally agree from a solo player point of view. There has to be a possibility for us to regain blood and I totally like the idea of hunting for it in the woods. But its ridiculously hard to find matches. The best spawn place i have found are supermarkets and without server hopping you have only two of them near the common player spawns. I have found 1 in a house and 1 in the cherno station, thats all.

I say refillable lighters with lighter fluid in supermarkets, makes more sense than boxes of matches everywhere? :D But cheers guys, i'll head back to the coast (i'm waaay up north) and scout around for supermarkets. :thumbsup:

Not scarce. A visit to 5 supermarkets at the most will land you matches. I've found 2 boxes of matches in a single supermarket once.

You're not going to get gear handed to you on a silver platter. That's not survival. It just means scavenging for canned goods/heatpacks (now that temperature is unbugged) until you find some.

Are you a solo player? I doubt it. Try to make it to 5 supermarkets without the ability to restore health and only canned food. It is an extreme disadvantage to playing in a team.

Yes, I just did a 26 in-game day stint playing solo (playing every real-life day). I raided the supermarkets in Pustoshka and Vybor daily, and I'd say pretty much every other day, if not more frequently, I found matches in at least one of the supermarkets.

And even if I didn't, I ALWAYS found canned food.

I think the matches should be very common, and maybe the animals more rare. Maybe some farms that spawn cows (like hospitals spawn bloodpacks), and less roaming animals that you can eat.
