Different characters, with only 1 character?

I've played some DayZ, got crossbow, hatchet and stuff. Then a day, where I login, I have none of the items. I thought I did something wrong, by clicking "Abort". Got some stuff again, for helicopter, then the next day I had my crossbow, hatchet and the other stuff back, and it's changing like that all the time, it's really annoying, because sometimes it's with crossbow, sometimes it with other stuff.

Is this is a bug, or am I the only 1 with this problem?

Check the servers you are joining, some of they have their own databases meaning they are not connected to the official database where your true character is stored.
