Temba 2 Posted August 2, 2012 I've only been playing a couple weeks now, but I've noticed that in the last few days, there's been some crazy graphics glitch I keep getting in various places, but almost always in Cherno, especially near the church. At first I figured it was my computer getting all wonky on me, something was up with the settings. After a little google digging, I found that this has been happening to just about everyone lately, and it has something to do with dead soldiers and barbed wire. Shitty, but hey, what are you gunna do, right? So I died earlier tonight, and spawned in Cherno. Every time I looked toward the church, the screen started to do all sorts of crazy stuff, making it impossible to look at, and ultimately served to remind me that I was just playing a game and not really in the zombie apocalypse. The thought, "Oh, how I hate going into Cherno..." drifted through my head, even as I dove straight towards the church in search of supplies.I've come to associate Cherno with this glitch, and not only do I try to avoid going there, I notice that most other players steer clear of the area when possible. It would be really neat to see this mentality carry over into later versions of the game. Instead of graphical errors though, give the town another effect, like heavy clouds of smoke. There's some decent loot in cherno, speaking as a beginner, and to add to the tension and risk of entering the city, clouds of smoke that obscure the player's vision might be a good inclusion. It could even be a sort of nod to the alpha community, a tribute to the time the developers broke cherno/elektro in alpha.
Falcorn (DayZ) 21 Posted August 2, 2012 It's a known issue, It's supposedly fixed in the next patch.
Element47 2480 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) it seems prevalent in coastal towns, although i experienced it near NWAF.adding heavy smoke clouds to cherno (or the large cities in general) is an awesome idea though. Temba, his arms wide. beans for that. Edited August 2, 2012 by e47
Rhovan 1 Posted August 2, 2012 SHIFT + NUM(-)than type in flushit will empty the arma 2 graphic mem
Yatagan 62 Posted August 2, 2012 If you reopen the game it stops.Whenever this happens to me or my friend as we play, we dive into a bush and close the game entirely then rejoin. It goes away. Not ideal but it should hold you over.
noMad17 13 Posted August 2, 2012 SHIFT + NUM(-)than type in flushit will empty the arma 2 graphic memI find that, more often than not, this makes it worse.I try it everytime and it works maybe 1 time out of 10, the other nine times the artifacts multiply. Temba 2 Posted August 2, 2012 I've yet to try the shift + num- , thanks for the suggestion, but I doubt it will work. Nothing else has. For now I'm content to just avoid the troubled areas, or at least, try to work around them as best I can. Bugs like this are expected, though this one in particular is almost making the game unplayable.
hombrecz 832 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) I would love to see some update on 1.7.2.5 but the topic is still locked and without any update.I so hoped this patch would be out yesterday but no luck. Today also does not look too promising and as we know, no patches are released on friday as not to mess weekends playing/testing.Guess we might have to wait till next week or downgrade to 1.7.2.3 meanwhile and suffer stationary Zeds but play without graphical glitches. Partywaffle 24 Posted August 2, 2012 hold shift and hold - on the num pad. let go of both at the same time and type flush. Sometimes this works, and other times it does not. You can also mess with your video settings by disabling and enabling vsync. For me none of this helps, and often times I have to close my game entirely to be able to play it. With the next patch however a lot of the artifacting should be fixed.
