Crashed heli, need advice or team-mate

Recommended Posts

So I'm relatively new to the game, and found one of these crashed helicopters. It has around 10 zeds guarding. I was able to sneak in once, but it was a very close call and I was only able to find one loot pile. I then proceeded to throw a smoke grenade to distract them while I looted, but none of them took the bait. Finally, I decided to kill them all. I took out three before the chase started. I led them to a lake where I was finally able to clear them out. Unfortunately, due to my noobness I also lost a lot of blood in the process, and by the time I returned they had all respawned!

My questions:

1. Is there an easier, less noobish way to loot these crash sites?

2. Would anyone be interested in helping me clear the zeds out in exchance for some of the loot?

1. Stealth it, after a few minutes the zombies spread out making it easier to loot it without drawing attention

2. Nope

Why complicate it? Just get close and start headshotting with your pistol and you wont aggro more than one or two at a time.

Thanks for the helpful replies. While awaiting some advice I continued stalking the chopper. I started hearing gunshots, and saw zombies falling, when all of the sudden a bandit crawled right past me, not noticing that I was there. A minute later a second bandit stood up not 30 feet away and started running up to his buddy. I had clear shots and gunned him down, causing his buddy to retreat - back into my field of fire. Unfortunately(for me) there was a third who was further back who got me.

For my first playthrough, I am pleased with this game.

How did you know he was a bandit, bandit?

Can't be 100% sure, there were lots of things going on through my mind at that point. Do I communicate to them and chance being murdered? Do I stay still until they're gone and have all the loot(which I obviously found first, worked hard to try to get, and couldn't help but feel some ownership of)? There were some clans on the server, and I heard that most clans KoS. Their appearance and demeanor played some part in my thoughts as well, too many details to remember/list here.

I suppose I could have been the bandit in this case, but I would be surprised. Maybe one of them will come on here and call me out? Either way it was an epic ending for me, and the other guy? He has friends to help get him on his feet again. I definitely lost way more in the exchange.

You're beginning to learn that the line between the aforementioned 'bandit' and 'this shit was mine before you got here' is porous.

On a side note, if it's during the day a smoke grenade only lasts a few seconds (~20 or so) but usually pulls all the nearby zombies to it. Should give you time to crouch run to the heli and then prone...

If it's at night it should be so dark that it doesn't matter what you do, the zombies will barely be able to notice...though you're probably going to be running with chems that they CAN see so it's a bit of a mixed bag. If you don't mind spoiling your location for kilometers around, a flare works wonders...

There is no long-term solution to camping a heli, and you're inviting conflict the longer you sit.
