Wulfsok 11 Posted August 2, 2012 It's late and I'd like to keep this short, but I'm curious if a DoS attack is possible by hackers circumventing a connection to the Hive.I do not run bit torrents, and have had a stable service for years, but tonight while I was running with my group (and having dealt with numerous hackers over several servers, one of which being the "Thunderdome" hack), until my connection with the ISP suddenly dropped from the router, with connection being restored after the ISP sending an echo through my line with a powercycle. If an attack of this sort is even possible it worries me as to the potential damage a hacker can do to a persons internet connection (IE Money). Psyl3nt 125 Posted August 2, 2012 Of course it's possible, I would say unless you've upset some people lately though that it is highly unlikely. It's more likely that your provider had a momentary issue, which by the sounds of it resolved very quickly. If you had been DDoS attacked you would know it because you would be offline for some time, unless you have a dynamic IP.
Wulfsok 11 Posted August 2, 2012 Thank you! I don't have experience with denial of service attacks, so the clarification was great! I'll be logging back into DayZ tomorrow. =)
Wulfsok 11 Posted August 2, 2012 Stop reporting people for using features of Arma II. Really guys dont you have anything better to do than report people for playing the game the way it was designed to be played?I propose a new hack reporting format.Topic im moaning about:Who made me cry like a little girl:How many times they did it:What im going to threaten to do after i'm ignored for posting this:Wah:Troll, you didn't read anything I wrote.Besides, I don't mind getting hacked playing an ALPHA MOD. I just want to make sure someone can't easily hijack my internet and start reading diplomatic links or some shit. Also, your trolling is in the way of the designers bugtesting during the ALPHA stage of development. And no, alpha comes before beta.
